Chapter 54

-Tengen’s POV-
As I was yelling at the twerps someone hit me in the back of the head causing me to turn around yelling, “Hey! What was that- for…” ‘Ah shit.’ I thought as I saw a pissed (Y/n). ‘I’m about to die, aren’t I?’ I thought before backing up a bit. I looked down at the smaller version of Kyojuro as I noticed she wasn’t wearing her haori.

“Hey where is your haori?” I asked slowly as she looked at me a little confused. “Huh?” She says, responding to me which surprised me as I haven’t heard her say anything at all before. Suma then appeared behind me signing to her for me. (Y/n) made an ‘oh’ expression before signing back.

‘So she can’t read lips… That kinda sucks, and kinda bad.’ I thought looking over to the brat trio seeing as they were just talking among themselves and Kocho. I looked down to see (Y/n) was signing back and waited before my wives told me what she said. “She said she couldn’t find it in the wardrobe so she was about to ask her crow to send someone to go get it before the meeting.”

“Ah.” I responded before looking over to (Y/n) again. “Hmm… How much time until sunset?” I asked, looking toward the brat trio and Shinobu. “Well, there is about…?” Shinobu started before looking toward the porch outside. “I would say an hour and thirty minutes till sunset.

Makio signed the time to (Y/n) as she then walked toward the porch to see her kasugai crow waiting for her. I looked over to my wives as I patted Suma’s head. “Well let’s get ready for the meeting then.” As we left for the Ubuyashiki mansion, we passed (Y/n) as her hair seemed to glow as the rays of the sun hit the ends.

It was breathtaking as I remembered that Kyojuro and I used to go on missions before sundown together as well. He was like our personal flashlight as he was easy to see in the dark because of his bright haori as well.

-Matsumi’s POV-
I was cleaning the floors with a dust rag as I ran across back and forth when I heard a kasugai crow enter the estate. I got up and walked toward the post of where they landed, seeing that it was Nora, or well (Y/n)’s kasugai crow. “What are you doing here little guy?” I asked sweetly as I smoothed her feathers down. I then reached down for the piece of paper seeing the beautiful written note.

~Beginning of Note~
Dear Moki,
I was wondering if you could bring me my haori before I go and have the hashira meeting. It feels odd not having one on. It should be the red/orange one on the nightstand in my room. And maybe after the meeting we can go out for dinner if you would like. It’s up to you. The meeting is at the Ubuyashiki mansion, but we can meet in the quartyard if that is fine with you.

“Yeah! I can do that!” I said, pumping my hand in the air as I quickly ran down the hall towards her room. As I reached her I almost tripped making me look down. I noticed that the board was slightly sticking up and decided that I will be fixing that later as that is a danger hazard.

I entered the room noticing the nice shades of yellow, orange, and reds. I scanned the room looking for her nightstand to see that it wasn’t there, but I did see two haori’s on top the dresser. One was white with red and orange along the bottom symbolizing flames and the other was a mixture of orange and yellow with a flame pattern along the bottom.

‘God which one.’ I thought sweat dropping for a second before picking up one of them and headed out the estate. ‘I hope I picked the right one.’ I soon reached the quartyard noticing (Y/n)-san with a white headed male. I soon recognized him as the male I met a few weeks ago. °Good evening!° I signed/yelled getting Shinazugawa’s attention first before getting (Y/n)’s.

*Evening* They both signed at the same time. ‘They would make a cute couple, lol.’ I thought, smirking a little bit before handing over the wrapped haori to (Y/n). I stood there for a second before looking at (Y/n) and the wrap. She took that as a hint to open it.

-(Y/n)’s POV-
Moki arrived at the yard an hour later with my haori wrapped up in a white cloth. I thanked her by nodding before looking at it. I looked up toward her noticing that she hadn't left yet, but she was looking from me to the haori. ‘Does she want me to open it?’

I opened it to see that it wasn't my haori, but my dead brother’s. I was almost on the verge of tears, yet I had stopped myself before pulling it completely out of the wrap. I looked up to a shocked Sanemi and a surprised Moki. *What?* I signed, obviously a little sad but happy at the same time.

-Sanemi’s POV-
I was ‘talking’ with (Y/n) as we were waiting on her kakushi to come with her haori since she says she doesn't feel right without it on since she was in uniform. When she came I noticed it was the same girl I met a few weeks ago at the butterfly mansion when I went to see if (Y/n) was okay.

‘I think her name was Matsumi.’ I thought, looking at her hand over what I presumed was the haori. (Y/n) seemed to stare at the wrap thinking about something before opening it. “I hope I brought the right one…” I looked over to Matsumi with a questioning look. “What do you mean, ‘I hope I brought the right one?’ Was there more than one?“

As I finished my sentence I looked over to see that the haori that was given to (Y/n) wasn't hers, but her twin brothers. ‘Oh shit.’ I thought about to put my hand on her shoulder, but instead she just looked at us signing, *What?*

*Nothing.* I signed, putting my hand on her shoulder before she put the haori on her shoulders. ‘Man there are gonna be so many questions at the meeting…’ I thought before walking ahead toward the meeting. (Y/n) seemed to stay behind for a second before running up in front of me slightly before walking beside me.

For a second I got a glimpse of Rengoku, but soon returned to (Y/n) as she turned around haori blowing in the wind. ‘If we ever faced the demon that killed him… He might think he survived… even if it were just for a second.’ I thought as I asked her a question. *What were you talking about with Matsumi? And are you okay?*

She seemed surprised by my concern but responded anyway. *She asked me about dinner, and if we were still going out to eat.* She signed excitedly before walking ahead. ‘She didn’t answer my second question.’ I grumbled a little before walking up beside her again.

*I asked if you were alright..* I signed a little annoyed, but I didn’t show it as I didn't want her to think I was annoyed with her. She stopped before looking up at me. *I’m alright now.. Besides… I feel warm in this. It’s as if he is giving me a hug.* She smiled brightly as she then started walking again.

I smirk toward her response, deciding to just follow her instead.

‘You never cease to amaze me.’
