"Have you spoken to You Know Who, this morning?" Amber asked Lyla, in a whisper. The two stood in the kitchen pouring their cereal as Nina and Fabian chatted at the table. Lyla raised an eyebrow at her friend, "Voldemort?" She shot back, not wanting to talk about her feelings for a certain dirty blonde haired boy.The day was saved as Mara walked in, looking worried, "Have any of you seen Patricia?" She questioned, as everyone exchanged a look; now just as alarmed.
"Didn't she come home last night?" Nina wondered, but Mara shook her head, "No, Trudy said she went out with an aunt and uncle after the play, but I thought she'd be back by now." the girl explained, now on the verge of tears.
"Are you alright, Mara?" Fabian asked, as Amber and Lyla headed towards the table, "No, I need to talk to Patricia." She responded.
"Hey, you can talk to us if you like." Nina offered, but that was just as Amber and Lyla reached Mara, looming behind her. The girl looked back at the two, before shaking her head in defeat, "No, I can't." She uttered, rushing out of the room.
Amber had a smug look on her face as she said, "Trouble in paradise." before she and Lyla both took their seats. "Sorry?" Fabian questioned.
"Her and Mick. They were boyfriend and girlfriend for all of one hour, and then they broke up." Amber told them. "Why?" Nina asked her, confused, "Who knows?" Amber simply replied.
Lyla scoffed as she threw her legs atop the table, sitting back in her seat, "Probably because when she went all emo, she was messing with him. Don't ask how I know but, I am almost positive it was her that turned all of his clothes pink. I don't doubt she did anything else."
It was silent for a moment as the others stared at her, taking in the information until Nina changed the subject, "Anyway... Where do you think Patricia is?"
"Hopefully with Joy and not with Rufus." Fabian said what they were all hoping for.
Lyla sighed, as much as she was worried for the girl, she didn't want to think about it. Something bad had obviously happened when she was out with Rufus and Lyla had a tendency to overthink.
"I thought he was one of the good guys." Amber pointed out, "He could be, but I don't know... There's just something about the guy, I can't put my finger on it..." Lyla spoke.
Amber rolled her eyes, "Okay, it's impossible to keep track. We need a newsletter." She suggested.
"I hope she's okay." Nina said, before they were interrupted by Mick, Alfie, and Jerome walking into the room. The former two sat down while Jerome went into the kitchen. At the sight of this Lyla and Amber shared a look; one filled with dread and anxiety, and the other a mix of smugness and excitement.
