Agriculture
The south of Khearia becomes too hot and dusty to grow traditional crops like wheat. However, produce such as lemons, tomatoes and grapes will grow there happily and are worth more. Grapes, especially, are highly demanded to make wine, making rural South Khearia wealthier than rural North Khearia.
Trade
The coastlines have the most wealth due to international trade. The coast along the Ostyae Strait (the channel that Edobury sits upon) used to have significantly higher GDP as it's the entrance to the Ostyae Sea and many ships would take breaks on their exit and entrance. After Ashad blocked the Strait and started a war with Khearia and its allies, the number of merchant ships that passed through decreased and never fully recovered.
