Vanessa's POV:
Cameron, North Carolina home of Matt and Jeff Hardy. Matt sends me a text message
Text conversation:
I'm so worried about Jeff.
Why?
My brother is heading down a bad path.
Is he okay?!
Idk
Omg! Is Jeff on drugs?!
I hope not! Brb.
Okay.
An hour later:
Hey Matt is Jeff okay?
You were right Jeff took drugs.
I'm so sorry. We're on our way to see you.
I'm so nervous. Jeff is my tag team partner for a sibling tag team match on SmackDown.
Matt and I text until the bus pulls into the garage. I ring the doorbell and Matt ushers us inside. I look at him with a lot of concern.
Matt's POV:
I'm sitting on my side of our couch. I look at the WWE Avengers worried about Jeff. The six people offer me a ride to the hospital. I shake my head no.
I look at some photographs on my phone of Jeff and I. Brothers for life tag team by choice. I start to feel crummy that my energy is at a two. I have to go to the airport and book that flight to Dallas for SmackDown.
John's POV:
I assemble the team in the kitchen for a meeting. I suggest one member of our team accompanies Matt to Dallas.
Vanessa's POV:
John, Zack, Dean, Seth and Roman all suggest I go to Dallas with Matt. I think about it as Matt leaves the house. Thanks a lot guys I think sarcastically. I'm half way to my bus when I hear a sigh. I look to my left and I see Matt thinking about his brother. I make my way over to him but we just sit in silence.
Matt's POV:
The silence gets broken as Vanessa and I head back inside the house. I grab a few things from my room and set them up in the studio. I set up some sheet music and I start writing a song. An hour later, I finish the song and I head into the recording booth. I start to sing.
Hey Jeff look at me
Think back and talk to me
Did I grow up according to plan?
And do you think I'm wasting my time doing things I wanna do?
But it hurts when you disapprove all along
And now I try hard to make it
I just wanna make you proud
I'm never gonna be good enough for you
Can't pretend that
I'm alright
And you can't change me
'Cause we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
Now it's just too late and
We can't go back
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
I try not to think
About the pain I feel inside
Did you know you used to be my hero?
All the days you spent with me
Now seem so far away
And it feels like you don't care anymore
And now I try hard to make it
I just wanna make you proud
I'm never gonna be good enough for you
I can't stand another fight
And nothing's alright
Cause we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
Now it's just too late and
We can't go back
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
Nothing's gonna change the things that you said
Nothing's gonna make this right again right again
Please don't turn your back
I can't believe it's hard
Just to talk to you
But you don't understand you don't understand
'Cause we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
Now it's just too late and
We can't go back
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
'Cause we lost it all
Nothing lasts forever
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
Now it's just too late and
We can't go back
I'm sorry
I can't be perfect
After the song ends, I call Stephanie telling her that I won't be at SmackDown.
Vanessa's POV:
I listen to Matt's song and I could hear the pain in his voice. After I give a review of the song, Matt leaves the studio. I get inside the booth and I sing.
Made a wrong turn once or twice
Dug my way out, blood and fire
Bad decisions, that's alright
Welcome to my silly life
Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood
Miss 'No way, it's all good'
It didn't slow me down.
Mistaken, always second guessing
Underestimated, look I'm still around
Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel
Like you're less than perfect
Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel
Like you're nothing, you're perfect to me
You're so mean when you talk
About yourself. You were wrong.
Change the voices in your head
Make them like you instead.
So complicated,
Look how we all make it.
Filled with so much hatred
Such a tired game
It's enough, I've done all I could think of
Chased down all my demons
I've seen you do the same
Oh oh
Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel
Like you're less than perfect
Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel
Like you're nothing, you're perfect to me
The whole world's scared, so I swallow the fear
The only thing I should be drinking is an ice cold beer
So cool in lying and we try, try, try but we try too hard
And it's a waste of my time.
Done looking for the critics, cause they're everywhere
They don't like my jeans, they don't get my hair
Exchange ourselves and we do it all the time
Why do we do that, why do I do that why do I do that?
Yeah! Oh!
Oh, pretty, pretty, pretty
Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel
Like you're less than perfect
Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel
Like you're nothing, you're perfect to me
You're perfect, you're perfect
Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel
Like you're nothing, you're perfect to me.
Matt comes in and listens to my song he gives me the CD of it and we leave the studio.
Matt's POV:
I'm still feeling glum about my brother. I look to my right and I see a car pull into the garage. I start to get nervous thinking it's Jeff but it's Lita. She looks at me and we embrace. After we break apart, Lita and Vanessa hug.
Vanessa's POV:
After Lita and I break apart from a hug, we talk about Tough Enough I talk about how Sara needs a lot of work. I watch tape of Team Extreme and I saw Matt do a Twist of Fate on Edge. I want to learn that move so I ask Matt to teach his finisher to me.
Matt's POV:
The air outside was crisp. I knew Vanessa wanted to learn the Twist of Fate but with the concussion I declined to teach it to her. Instead we played WWE2k15. I played as Randy Orton and Vanessa played as Nikki Bella. The match was a mixed tag team match. John and Zack played as well. We had the upper hand and I was going for the RKO until Zack counter with a broski boot and covered me. John and Zack won the match.
Vanessa's POV:
As John and Zack celebrated a video game victory, I see a glum Matt back in the recording studio. Matt brings me a new song he's working on. It didn't fit vocally for Matt but he knew it'll work for me. I scan the lyrics and I nod at Matt who looks at me and I go to the booth. I take a deep breath and I sing.
I am nothing without love
I'm but a ship stuck in the sand
Some would say that I'm all alone
But I am, I'm nothing without love
I wanna hold you in my arms
But i'm feeling low i'm feeling sad
You would take credit for what's wrong
But I am, I'm nothing without love
Three years at sea after the storm
On this sinking ship that love had put me on
God I wish a gust of wind would come and carry me home
But I, I got nowhere to go
Now here you show up with the force of a wave
And so I'm setting my sail, I'm headed for the empire state
Hey hey lord, I don't want to lose this one, you make me feel whole
You know I am, I am nothing without love
Oh baby show me a sign
Send up a signal, that everything's fine
Come on slide up right here by my side
You know that I, I want to rest in your light
Na na na hey, na na na ooh oh
Na na na hey, na na na ooh oh
Na na na hey, na na na ooh oh
Na na na hey, na na na ooh oh
I wanna rest in your life
Na na na hey, na na na ooh oh
Na na na hey, na na na ooh oh
Na na na hey, na na na ooh oh
Na na na hey
I am nothing without love
I'm just these thoughts without a pen
And I would take credit for this song
But I am nothing without love
Oh baby show me a sign
Send up a signal, that everything's fine
Watch this, come on, come on, come on, come on right by my side
Don't you know that I, don't you know that I
I want to rest in your light
I want to rest in your light
I want to rest in your light
'Cause I am, I am nothing without love
After the song ends, Matt tells me to assemble the crew so they can listen to Matt's plan.
Matt's POV:
I usher in the WWE Avengers for a song briefing. I hand some sheet music to Vanessa and John they look it over and go in the booth.
Vanessa's POV:
I'm in the booth with John and we sing.
I just want you close
Where you can stay forever
You can be sure
That it will only get better
You and me together
Through the days and nights
I don't worry 'cause
Everything's going to be alright
People keep talking they can say what they like
But all I know is everything's going to be alright
No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I'm feeling
No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you, you, you
Can get in the way of what I feel for you
John sings the next verse
When the rain is pouring down
And my heart is hurting
You will always be around
This I know for certain
You and me together
Through the days and nights
I don't worry 'cause
Everything's going to be alright
People keep talking they can say what they like
But all I know is everything's going to be alright
No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I'm feeling
No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you, you, you
Can get in the way of what I feel
We finish the song together
I know some people search the world
To find something like what we have
I know people will try, try to divide, something so real
So till the end of time I'm telling you there ain't no one
No one, no one
Can get in the way of what I'm feeling
No one, no one, no one
Can get in the way of what I feel for you
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh [x2]
