Come As You Are (Jimmy Darling [AHS] x Reader)

REQUESTED: Could you possibly incorporate Jimmy's "Come as You Are" cover from Freakshow into a story?

You watched your boyfriend, Jimmy, as he was performing. He was the final act in tonight's show, but you stuck around after your performance to watch all of your friends perform, including Jimmy. You had joined the freak show nearly a year ago when you ran into Elsa at the famous diner her & the rest of the performers ate at & ever since then, these people had been your friends, your family.

Like your boyfriend & the rest of your freak show family, your deformity that deemed you an honorary freak brought you a lot of insecurity. Unfortunately, unlike Jimmy, you couldn't simply put on a pair of mittens to hide your deformity. Yours was a bit more complicated than that. You had a rare condition in which your joints experienced hyperextension, meaning that they could extend, bend, flex, & rotate more degrees than normal joints. This was quite painful for you & if it became more severe, it could cause all your joints to rotate backwards. Thankfully, only your knees were affected by the condition & you had a moderate form of the disease, so your knees were rotated slightly sideways from your body. Over time, they would eventually rotate 180 degrees, essentially causing your legs to face entirely backward. That wouldn't occur any time soon, but you wore tight splints that rotated the joints in place to prevent the ordeal from happening sooner, as well as hold the joints in their proper position. Needless to say, you were extremely insecure, possibly more insecure than anyone else in the show, & experienced great pain. You also walked around with a cane occasionally, when your knees hurt so badly that you could barely walk.

You watched as Jimmy displayed his hands for all to see. The crowd watched, captivated by Jimmy's good looks as well as his unusual hand deformity. He noticed you watching & winked, shooting you one of his famous smiles. You gave him a small smile of your own in return, making him grin. He liked to do that a lot during shows, mostly because seeing you always brightened his mood, which he definitely needed many times during shows. He was quite insecure of his hands & the show put himself & his insecurity in front of an entire audience, an act that was psychologically harmful to himself & his self-esteem. Seeing you always made him remember that he was human, just like everyone else in the audience.

Once the show was done, Jimmy eagerly made his way over to you, greeting you with a soft kiss to the cheek, "Evenin', darlin'. Did you enjoy the show?"

You scrunched your cheek a little at the contact & smiled, "Oh, I most definitely did. I think that lobster boy was my favorite performer. What was his name? Johnny? Johnny Darthing?" you teased.

He smirked at you, chuckling a little, "Somethin' like that," he said, making you laugh. You reached out & grabbed one of his hands, expertly lacing your fingers around his fused ones. After dating for so long, you figured out the best ways to hold his hand that were comfortable for both of you & made Jimmy forget about his deformity. That was the beauty between you two. You always made each other feel so beautiful, your deformities being the last things on your minds when you were together, & just like every other time, tonight would be a primitive example of that fallacy.

The two of you walked hand-in-hand, out of the tent & towards the trailer you shared. You swung your conjoined hands, causing Jimmy to smile. The walk wasn't a long one, but both of you were definitely taking your sweet time. You were practically stalling with how slow the two of you were walking, but that only gave you the perfect opportunity to spend more time with each other, as well as get to look at the stars.

"I have this theory that when we die, we become stars," you said quietly, turning to look at your boyfriend as you continued walking & swinging your hands.
