On The Second Day of Christmas Markimoo Gave To Me: Two broken ornaments
"Alright this one wasn't necessarily my fault...true but it still happened on your hands...not fair your Uncle d...ah! save it I have to tell them the story...fine, but I call dibs on telling one...you gotta POV last time didn't you...yea- we- I- uh- just tell them the story...Okay so it all started after dinner and Uncle (NH) had an idea...)
Your POV
"We should decorate the Christmas tree!" Uncle (NH) said clearing the table off. "Here let me help you with the dishes." I say to my Uncle. "Yeah, your mother and i would like to get to know Mark on a more personal level." I dropped a dish as it shattered. "she is not my mom..." I muttered real quiet and went to get a broom. "...what was that about?" I heard Mark ask. I felt my Uncle's hand brush my back.
"I know you miss her, trust me I miss her too, but everything happens for a reason." I held back a few tears. "It all happened so fast. Uncle (NH), how did you do it? How did Dad do it?" I ask him. "Do what?" he replied. "Move on..." I held the broom in my hands kinda leaning on it.
"You two had a bond that could never be broken, it's okay to miss her. Just give (NAMESTEP-MOM) a chance. She at least deserves that." I nod as he took the broom from my hands. "Go do the dishes, I can handle sweeping kiddo," He patted my back and walked out. I followed behind him into the kitchen and started the dishes.
I was in the middle of drying them when I felt a familiar hand on my back. "Sorry Dad, it's just-" he interrupted me. "hard...I know. I miss her too." He picked up a towel and started to dry dishes with me. "How do you manage around this time of year?" I ask him as I start to put the dishes away. "Spend it with the ones I love most, and remember that she is in a better place." I smile and rub my eyes.
"So, Mark seems like a nice kid, his career choice screams I'm insane, but your real mother would love him," he says. "And what does my real father think?" I ask. "He likes my daughter, of course, I'm not too happy, but he seems like a nice guy. He's polite and seems to treat you well." I smile. "He treats me like a queen," I reply. "Nothing less." My dad replied.
"Hey, ya slow pokes come on, we're going to start without ya!" (NSM) "C'mon, Kiddo, " my dad ruffled my hair. I walked out and saw all of the boxes of ornaments and decorations. Mark held the tree topper and looked at me. "Uncle (NH) wanted me to put the star up, but I can't reach it cuz your family has a 10 ft tree? How do you normally put it on?" He asks me.
"When y/n was younger I used to put her on my shoulders, but my back won't let me anymore. Say, Mark you're strong. Why don't you lift her up?" Uncle (NH) said making Mark and I laugh. He stood there looking at us like we were insane? "Wait, You're being serious?" I ask. "Well I can't do it, (NSM) is a toothpick, and your da- well you know why your dad can't." I nodded and looked at him.
"Or we can just get the ladder from the garage," I say. "But where's the fun in that?" my dad said? I can't believe what I'm hearing. "Okay? You sure you can do this Mark?" I ask him. "I'm pretty sure I can, let's see if my trips to the gym pay off." I stood on the couch and my Uncle helped me onto Mark's shoulders. "If only you were as tall as Dan and Phil," I laugh as he holds my legs keeping me from falling. "Oh hush it." we laugh as my dad hands me the star.
I heard my dad or (NSM) snap a few pictures and I roll my eyes. I placed the star on top of the tree and Mark set me down. "Would you like to put the first ornament on the tree, Mark?" I asked handing him a pickle ornament. "My mom always hung this last and then make me and my brother try to find it. We weren't really good at it though." He made us all laugh with him.
He went to put the ornament on the tree, but when it was on the branch the string broke and the ornament cracked. "Oh shit!" I yelled having my heart thump out of my chest. "y/n! Language!" Mark said making me laugh harder. I grab another ornament here try again," I hand him another and he avoids the branch from before. We laugh and we all started to decorate the tree.
The sound of Christmas songs in the background and decorating for the holidays I will admit, made my day better. I grabbed an ornament with a picture of my mom. I smiled and put the ornament in the middle of the tree. Mark wrapped his arm around my waist and looked at the photo. "You look like your mother." he smiled. "Think so?" I ask and he smiles. "Of course, you're both beautiful." I laughed. "She would have slapped you, and said that only her husband could call her that." I smiled.
"She sounds like an amazing person." he smiled. "She was. " My dad butted in and looked at the picture. Mark went to grab another ornament when he ran into my Uncle causing him to drop the ornament in his hand, which yet again scared the living hell out of me. "Dang Mark, how can I trust you with my niece's heart, if you keep breaking everything." My Uncle said making us laugh.
"Cause that's one thing I won't break, I really do care for your neice and your daughter."
