"This is SO unfair!" David protested.
"Cool off, hotshot" the soldier warned as he pushed David into an empty storage room.
When the door closed, David sighed.
"Oh no, what would I do now?" David whined sarcastically. "I, the son of a brilliant scientist/father, have been imprisoned by a soldier who has no idea that I know all of the facility's vent entrances" he said as he walked to a low vent and removed its cover.
With that, he crouched low and headed towards the testing area.

The testing area looked as if half a giant dome has joined the small testing, made of glass and having a medium-sized model city in it.
Dr. Gutierrez, Dr. Montero, General Foss, and the soldiers gathered around the control panel where two lab testers were ready with remote controls.
In front of them laid the stasis chambers that held the cores. Both cores looked the same, except that the red core had a yellow shard inside. The shard intrigued the scientists back when the cores were discovered, but later it was determined that the shard was part of the red core when both cores were extracted from the dead star debris.
"Are you sure that you would test them in the robots today?" Dr. Montero asked Dr. Gutierrez in a nervous tone.
"Yes. Maybe it may open new information about how these cores might provide new energy alternatives for cities, instead of military machinery like you intended." Gutierrez said in a low voice even when the General was 2 meters from the other group.
"Start them up" Dr. Gutierrez ordered the two scientists in the control panel.
Two holding compartments lowered from the side of the small testing area ceiling.
When they opened, down lowered two robots. On the left was the Army night fury droid, the Blitzer type, which was twice as tall as an average person and looked ready to fight.

On the right was the Gründer Industries night fury droid named unit-02, which was about the size of the average teenage boy and looked both complex and rather harmless

"Load the cores" Gutierrez ordered. The scientists operated their designated robot towards the cores. The Blitzer type acquired the red core while the other acquired the blue core. When they had the cores were loaded in each of the robot's power compartments, the scientists switched their modes to allow the energy to be used by the robots.
At first nothing happened. Then the panels showed readings that indicated successful power circulation on both machines.
"It seems both have positive current circulation. Both are operative." The scientist on the left announced.
"Well I'm impressed about what you have achieved, gentlemen. Thank you, Doctor." General Foss said.
Before Gutierrez had time to respond to this, the Blitzer night fury droid started to glitch and the panel started to indicate a failure in the system of it.
"What's going on!" Gutierrez said. "I don't know. The system is starting to malfunction! I can't control it!!!" The scientist said in a frightened tone as he saw the readings.
The Blitzer nfd started to generate large amounts of red sparks and it's eyes glowed intensely red.
Then it threw back its head and produced an immense roar.
"Deploy weapon drones now!" Dr. Gutierrez ordered. Small quadrotor drones were dropped from the ceiling and started shooting at the out-of-control nfd. The robot instead fought back, trying to swap them in mid-air or blasting them with its laser cannon.

David slipped out of the vent that led to the testing area. When he saw what was going on, his eyes widened. "Woah. I gotta get a better look" he said as he got closer behind in the model city.
"Switch unit-02 into battle mode now!" Gutierrez ordered again. Unit-02's eyes glowed blue and started to charge towards the now-berserk Blitzer nfd. It took out its sword and the other hand turned into a plasma cannon. Leaping forward, it struck the Blitzer nfd right in the back. However, it did little damage.
Turning and reaching out with its hand towards a near wall, the Blitzer nfd pulled out its blade and drew another sharp piece of metal which it began to become part of its arm. Swinging its arm, it knocked unit-02 away from it causing it to deal medium damages and crash towards one of the buildings.
"It assimilated that piece of metal to knock him away! How is that possible?" General Foss exclaimed.
"It's called the adaptive system. It can absorb and use anything to its advantage" Dr. Gutierrez explained.
Still, unit-02 got up immediately and delivered a plasma grenade to the Blitzer nfd. But it blocked the blast and shot a laser beam towards unit-02.
This knocked it towards one of the buildings that David was hiding. He screamed, trying to cover from the dust and flying debris. Dr. Gutierrez, hearing the scream, turned and saw with terror where David was.
"Son!" Gutierrez cried. Without thinking he leapt over the control panel and rushed towards David. But he was stopped when a laser shot came streaking down, the blast creating large amounts of dust.
Ignoring this, he called out,"Son! Come, quick!".
David rushed towards where his father called out, adrenaline pumping.
Then the dust seemed to clear behind David, revealing the Blitzer nfd hovering above and its sight showed a weapons lock on David.
"Look out!!!" Gutierrez shouted, but it was too late.
With a quick shot, the Blitzer nfd shot a laser that penetrated David straight through his heart.

"DAVID!!!!!!!" Gutierrez screamed as he rushed to him.

The Blitzer nfd saw where Dr. Gutierrez was, and aimed its laser pod to him.
"Fire now!!!" General Foss ordered his troop.
They fired at the Blitzer nfd, but the bullets simply just bounced right off and drew its attention to them.
Dragging his son and placing him down, Dr. Gutierrez reached towards the panel that had the control for unit-02. The damage was 70%, meaning that it still could move and fight. But Gutierrez ordered it to charge up and center the energy to its hand. Then he moved unit-02 and made it charge towards the Blitzer nfd.
With quick movement, it jammed the charged hand into the berserk nfd's chest. This caused the cores to cancel each other's energies out and create an emp discharge shock. Both fell down, their powers completely down.

When it was over, Gutierrez looked down to his son. His eyes were closed, a huge burned-out hole in his heart bleeding so much blood. He picked David up, tears welling in his eyes. Dr. Montero approached and put a had on his shoulder. "I am so sorry, Gutierrez." he said gently.

"David..............its all my fault." Gutierrez said, breaking into sobbing and hugging David tightly.
