claire;

today was the day. the day that wes was leaving to go back home. when i say home, i mean back to his house where we live, not the U.K.

i was really sad when he told me he had to go back home but i tried not to show it. he said he was going back home because he wants to try out for the jv football team at his school.

nash also has to go home today, which means all his friends are going with him. i'm actually very happy about that.

tyler and hayes are trying out for the jv football team at our school, but they're leaving a week from today. the girls were outside playing with some sparklers as i watched wes pack up his clothes.

"why do you have to leave so soon?" i whine. "i want to be on the football team and i have to leave now if i want a spot." he says, zipping up his suit case.

he sits next to me, putting his arm around my waist. "don't worry. it's just a few weeks. before you know it, you'll be in my arms again." he said.

"i'm coming with you, to the airport." i said, getting up. "no. it'll be so much harder to say bye." he groans. "i don't care. it's worth it." i walk out of the room, walking over to mine.

i put on some sweats, one of Nash's hoodies and my white converse. i tied my hair into a messy ponytail and grabbed my phone.

i went outside where the girls were, as the sparklers died down. "did you save me one?" i ask. "oops. we were having way too much fun." callie chuckles.

"are you okay? you look ..." lulu trailed off. "yeah. it's just wes is leaving today but i don't want him to leave. but then i'm just being selfish." i shrug.

i sit down at one of the chairs with the girls joining. "you still have us. let's enjoy the rest of the summer. you'll see wes when we get back!" charlie assures, rubbing my back.

"yeah! it's not like he's dying, at least i don't think." mallory says. i chuckle. "you're right. i guess i've gotten so close to him." i look down.

"and that's a good sign!" lulu says. my phone dinged with a text from wes saying he was ready. "i hope it's a good sign." i get up, locking my phone.

"i'm going to the airport to say bye to wes. i'll be back." i wave them bye and head inside. all the guys have their suitcases ready to go and i see wes' by the foyer and go over to it and sit on it.

wes walks down the stairs and sees me. "ok guys. let's go!" nash yells that last part and they all start heading out, one by one.

taylor stops at the door to talk to me. "so i'll be staying at your house for the last few weeks of summer. i'll be waiting!" he grins, handing me a piece of paper.

"what does it say?" wes asks curiously. i shrug, not wanting to look at it. "can i take a peek?" he asks. i hand him the paper and he reads it.

his eyes fill with confusion and then anger. "what is it?" i ask. "his number." he says, tearing it into little pieces. "why?" i ask, confused.

"he's making a move on you. does he not know we're dating? has he been living under a rock?" i get off his suitcase and he brings it outside.

"maybe he just gave it to me so we could talk. as friends do." i advise. "well, i'm not having it. this is twice now." he says, rolling up his sleeve.

"so you're gonna fight him? wes, no!" i pull his arm back. "claire, let go." he says. "leave it wes. i'll talk to him." i turn him around to face me.

"don't. he'll probably try it again. i won't fight him, only because you're telling me not to. let's get in the car." he holds my hand as we make our way to the car.
