Chapter 68 - Aurora's Initiation

Xyder Zephyr - POV;

"Y-your mother?!" I exclaimed.

"Yes," 'A' responded with a smile, "It's great to finally meet you, my little brother."

"Wait. Hold on," I muttered, dumbfounded by what I had been hearing. Honestly, how could I feel anything but shock from a revelation such as this. To learn that I possibly had another sibling I knew not about.... it was surreal to say the least.

"I think we got off on the wrong foot... although I couldn't think of a better way to get acquainted to each other than by the blade," she giggled.

"Agreed. Our conflict has told me everything I needed to know the kind of person you truly are," I nodded.

"Where are my manners? I should introduce myself to you Xyder. My name is Aurora, a member of the Neptulus Clan," 'A' told me.

"I see... By the way," I continued, "I couldn't help but feel as if you held a personal grudge against Zephyr."

"Of course I do. After all, they were the ones who sent our mother to die," Aurora spat.

"What? What are you saying?! My parents both died in an accident some years ago!" I argued.

"Oh.... so that's what you were told," she sighed, "Very well. You deserve to hear this story being her son; the one she gave her life for. Listen well to the tale of a young girl who was saved by a Goddess."

Aurora - POV;

I scurried through the alleys, dodging my pursuers whom seemed adamant in detaining me. I wasn't one to give in easily however and I was prepared to show them the pursuit of a lifetime. I dove into a narrow space between two adjacent buildings that was barely big enough to allow my small frame to squeeze through.

"Damn it! That rat went in there! We'll have to go around!" One of the large men bellowed. I rushed out of the other side and headed further down the path ahead of me. As I approached the lowly populated main streets, I knew that running out into it would surely mean my capture. On top of being in the open and easily seen, I would have been identified by almost everyone there.

"Down this way!" a gruff voice sounded off.

With no time to spare, I rolled under a nearby dumpster and held my breath as I watched the feet hurry past.

"God damn it! The girl went out into the streets but I don't see her anywhere. Did she really get such a headstart?" a guy groaned.

"Come on, I'm sure someone saw her, let's ask around!" his friend assured him.

Once I was certain that they were long gone, I crept out of my hiding place with a sigh.

"There you are!"

I was grabbed by the hair by mammoth hands whose iron grip refused to release me despite my flailing and pleading. I had all but given up and accepted defeat when something truly unexpected occurred. A slender yet strong leg delivered a kick to my assailant's crotch from behind, causing his knees to buckle and he fell to the ground, throwing me aside as he did.

I was caught by a young female whose flowing, blonde hair shimmered giving her an image like that of an angel. She rested me down gently as she scolded, "It isn't very manly to bully a little girl like that so I thought I'd do you a favour and make sure you weren't a man any longer! Shall we continue?"

The male rose his head and ground his teeth as he glared at the girl. "Why you-" he spat, "that rodent there stole from our bakery! We let it slide the first day as well as the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth! We're not letting her get away for the seventh time!"
