Nagisa pov

Today was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives.
After months and months of trying, I was finally pregnant

I still remember the face Karma made when he found out we were having a girl.
He was so excited

We'd normally huddle together on the couch, his hand rubbing my growing stomach

He'd even tell me little stories, like how'd he'd flip if he ever found out she was secretly dating someone when she was in middle school

We would also tell each other stories about how'd she'll leave little footprints in the house after it had finished raining.
How she'll come back from preschool with a portrait of us made out of macaroni

We'd even discuss her firsts
Like her first time riding a bike
Her first friends
Her first medal on getting 2nd place on a science project
Her first time going to a school dance
Her first kiss
Her first boyfriend
Even her first breakup

We told each other then.....we would always be there for her and we'll love her no matter what

One day I was in the kitchen when I felt my water break
"!!"
'Is it finally time!'

When I looked down my eyes widened
"!!!"
Blood was dripping in between my legs and I felt so much pain
"Karma!!" I yelled, gripping onto the table for support

Karma came running in and was surprised when he saw the blood
"Hang on Nagisa!" He told me and placed my arm over his shoulder
He began leading me to the car and we drove to the hospital

Karma pov

I was by Nagisa's side, holding her hand while she was breathing heavily, trying to push the baby out
"Come on Nagisa, you can do it" I told her

After what seems like an hour of pushing the baby came out
"...."
It was silent
"What's wrong? Why isn't she crying?" I asked
The doctors moved away with our baby and put it on a separate table
"What's going on?" I asked again
My concern made Nagisa worry
"What's going on? Is the baby ok?"
"There's no pulse" they told each other
My eyes widened and I looked over at Nagisa
She was just as shocked as I was

The doctors tried everything they could.
Our baby died either way

I was sitting next to Nagisa, holding her hand while she looked blankly out the window

I could only imagine how she feels

She went through months of suffering....only to get nothing

She doesn't have a baby in her arms...crying for her mommy

We just sat in silence until
"Karma..." Nagisa called out
I looked up and saw that she wasn't looking at me, she was looking at the wall in front of her
"...." I waited for her to say something else
"Where's our baby?"
"....."
She griped my hand harder
"Where is she?" Her voice cracked
I could only look down
"Karma?"
A tear rolled down my cheek

The following day we were leaving the hospital and I was helping Nagisa get in the car when we heard a baby crying.

I turned around and saw a couple carrying their newborn to their car

I was jealous of them
They'll get to experience the joys of being a parent
They'll get to see their kid grow up
They'll get to experience what we never will

I looked back at Nagisa and saw her starring at the couple with a tear rolling down her cheek, but a smile on her face
"Nagisa?"
She looked at me and smiled
"Let's go home"
I smiled back
"Sure"
