✨ New Year Special ✨

"Hey Nagisa you have any plans for New Years?" Karma asked, a grin appearing on his face
"Mmm, probably not, mom's going to be on a business trip" he replied not bothering to look up at his friend
"Really mine too" Karma hinted
His plan was to go to the New Years Festival together with Nagisa and confess his feelings.
He didn't know how, but this would be the perfect opportunity, he wouldn't let it go to waste.
"I see" Nagisa answered blankly
"...."
Karma frowned that Nagisa hadn't gotten his hint....but that was one of the things he loved about him, he was at many times clueless.
...
The two of them continued walking side by side, walking the empty neighborhood road

Just when they reached Nagisa's apartment complex he walked forward and turned to look at Karma
"Thanks for walking me, I'll see you later"
As he was about to walk away-
"Wait!" Karma grabbed held of his wrist
"What is it?" He asked confused by Karma's action
"Since you're not doing anything, want to go to the New Years festival with me"
"...sure" he smiled

And in a blink of an eye the day of the New Years festival came.
It was still early in the day, but one of the traditions that both Karma and Nagisa grew accustomed to was visiting the shrine and wishing for a happy and healthy year.
Plus Karma wanted to get their early so their wouldn't be that many people and he could spend the rest of the day with Nagisa.
....
Once they got out of the temple they saw people setting up for the festival
"There's still time before the festival starts, what do you want to do?" Karma looked down at Nagisa
"Everything's closed so there's not much to do...how about we just take a walk around the place
"Sure"

By the time the festival was beginning the sun was setting and crowds of people began coming.
When Karma and Nagisa came back they explored the festival.
....
They went to almost every food stand and tried Okonomiyaki (savory japanese pancake), Crepes, Nikuman (dumplings filled with pork), and Taiyaki (fish shaped cakes filled with custard or cheese)
They also enjoyed a few games that by the time they had finished exploring it was almost time for the fireworks

Karma POV
With the crowd gathering it was becoming harder to keep my eye on Nagisa.
"Hey Nagisa" I managed to grab his hand
"What?" He looked up at me
"Follow me"
"Eh?"
I then dragged him out of the crowd and made my way away from the festival, up a hill
"Where are we going? Weren't we going to watch the fireworks?"
"We are" I grinned glancing back at him briefly
"????"

Once we reached the top of the hill Nagisa walked infront of me, wanting to look at the view infront of him
"We'll have a better view of the fireworks from here" I spoke out as Nagisa still had his back toward me
"It's so pretty here"
"Yeah" I replied walking next to him
"Say Karma...."
"What?"
"What's one of your new year resolutions?" He looked up at me
"......" I froze
'Should I tell him now?'
"...."
"...."
"Karma?"
"I....want to confess my love"
"To who?"
Seeing how confused Nagisa looked brought a smile to my face and I leaned down, our noses almost touching
"To you" I said before connecting both our lips together and in that moment the fireworks appeared

"w-wait, w-what" Nagisa's face began turning a bright red
In embarrassment he covered his mouth with the back of his hand
"You're the one I like" I grabbed both his hands
"I-"
"You don't have to answer. I just wanted to tell you, let's just enjoy the fireworks" I cut him off, afraid to hear his response.
"I'll go get more Nikuman"
Just as I was about to go down the hill-
"Wait!"
Nagisa grabbed my arm with both his hands
"Nagisa?"
I turn around and see Nagisa with flushed cheeks
"I...I like you too" he spoke softly
"...."
After hearing those words I froze in disbelief
Was I hearing things!?
Did Nagisa really say he likes me to?!
"Karma?"
I snapped out of my thoughts and smiled at him, facing him properly and cupping his face with my hands
"May I?"
"Why are you asking? You already did it" he mumbled
I couldn't help but chuckle at his remark
And with that I leaned in for our second kiss of the year

Once we left the festival we walked, hand in hand, to my house.
"Let's watch the first sunrise of the year together"
Nagisa laughed lightly
"You're so cheesy Karma"
"Only for you" I smirked and brought him closer to me

I know there were many sad moments this year were it made us want to look back at our mistakes and wish for a different outcome, but there were also many happy moments that we will cherish in the future.
As the years continue to go by we will continue to grow up and think back to the past, smiling at the journey and obstacles we overcame to be where we are and be who we are.
Remember that every end marks a new beginning. You can't change the past, so why not change the future.
