She Hates, But She Also Loves

Ariana dropped Mia from the neck-hold in fear. Mia coughed. Ariana crouched down next to her. Mia was crying and was drunk. What has led you to this state, Mia? Ariana wondered. Mia then grabbed onto Ariana's shirt and pulled herself up with Ariana.

"I'm sorry! I didn't- I didn't want to do it! I didn't think it would lead to this!" Mia cried and sobbed heavily. She then fell to the ground, hugging her knees and crying quietly. "I didn't want this." She mumbled to herself. Ariana watched, not knowing what to do. She decided that she didn't want to watch it anymore and turned to leave.
"Don't leave me here like this! I'll go insane!" Mia yelled out behind her.
Ariana turned back hesitantly. I think you already have gone insane, Mia.

Ariana sighed. "Shut up. Stop crying."
Mia looked up. Ariana then pulled her up by her hand and dragged her to a bedroom. "Sit still, look pretty." She referred to a song and left the room to go to the kitchen, pulling out an old bag of drugs. She took some tasteless sleeping pills and mixed them in a glass of water. She then went back to the bedroom and gave it to Mia, as she knew Mia wouldn't cooperate if she was drunk, who drank it all at once. Almost immediately, she was knocked out cold and Ariana took her in her hands, bridal style. She took her out of the house, looking back at it before exiting from the gates and starting to run in the direction of the school. She balanced Mia in her arms and found a cab in which she placed her and sat herself. Once at the school, she gave the late night driver another wad of cash she had taken before having left the house. She then took Mia inside as unnoticeably as possible, pulling her over a wall and in through the window of their room, which had been left open, much to Ariana's relief.

Placing Mia in her bed and covering her with a blanket, a new argument raged in her head of the possible reasons that could have required Mia to be in her old mansion, that too, drunk. The worst thing was, she came up with nothing reasonable.

Ariana woke up at 12 pm. She realized that she had missed three lectures and mumbled, "Crap." She had never cared about lectures but with the practicals only two months away, she couldn't help but worry. With the amount of work the lecturers were piling on them, she thought about all the notes she didn't have then. Since when did I start worrying so much about studies? Ariana rolled her eyes and got up. After getting up and dressed in her uniform with the usual wedged boots and earrings, she stepped out with her bag, leaving Mia inside, still asleep, and went straight to her next lecture, which was of advanced Biology, one she shared with Faith. She saw Faith with her best friend, the girl she seemed to always be around those days. Ariana brushed away whatever strange anger she felt from their closeness and sat down. She couldn't help but listen in to a conversation happening between three boys, having realized it was about Faith. She heard the word "unapproachable" and decided to interject.
