What Matters Most

Toni's POV
Cheryl keeps taking secret phone calls and comes back looking not herself. Every time I ask, it's her mother or Reggie. But I've been texting reggie during these phone calls.
She leaves for yet another phone call and leaves me alone in our room. I sneak out to eavesdrop on this conversation
"Stop calling me, she's getting suspicious," she hisses
"No, fuck off, please, let me live my life," she pleads
"No, please don't, I'm trying to help her,"
"Fine, just call less, she's onto me,"
She hangs up and punches the wall.
I walk in and she looks like a deer in the headlights
"Babe," I say "what was that about?"
"Nothing of your concern mi amour, just my ghoulish mother,"
"No, it wasn't C, because I asked Penelope and she hasn't heard from you in over a year," I say trying to call her bluff
"Wh-why, Why would you do that?"
"Because I'm worried about you," I say "you're taking so many phone calls,"
"Toni, I'm handling it ok? Just let it go,"
"Do the boys know why? Because they keep dismissing my questions,"
"Leave the boys out of this," she says picking up her purse
"Where are you going?" I ask
"I need to go do something, I'll meet you at Tito in 30," she says kissing my cheek
I nod and when she leaves I call reggie
"Meet me at Tito now, bring the 3 musketeers with you,"
"Ok why?"
"Just do it, and hope I don't beat your ass,"
I grab my serpent jacket and fly down the stairs and jog to Tito.
"Hey Topaz what's up?" Mox asks as I walk inside
"You assholes are going to tell me what the hell is going on with my girl. She keeps getting calls and leaving at random times. It seems to have started after her so called "hurt ankle" incident that never came to fruition because she never limped or complained about it after," I snap "so what the fuck do I not know?"
"She's getting calls?" Reggie asks
"Yes, and she comes back scared or just not herself, she says it's you but she stays in the room when you're on the phone,"
"Fuck she's not keeping me in," he says to the other three boys
"Reggie what the hell is going on?" I ask
He doesn't answer
"Twins, c'mon, I just want to know," I plead
"Fine, someone named Douglas, I think. He called her and said he'd slit her throat," Austen says
"That's all we know," will says
"Dougie?" I half laugh "of fucking course,"
I pull up the number he put in my phone.
"What are you doing?" Reggie asks
"Ending this," I spit dialling the number
It rings
"Toni, my love, what do I owe this call to?" His menacing voice says
"Stop fucking calling my fucking fiancé,"
"But we're becoming the best of friends," he says
"I will do anything you want," I say "leave her alone,"
"Funny she said the same thing,"
"Funny, this is between me and you,"
"Fine, meet me and Freddy, 9 o'clock, edge of campus,"
"I will not cheat on her," I say
"Toni we've been there already," he laughs "bring nothing, not even your phone,"
"Deal,"
I hang up and look at the boys.
"Looks like you are babysitting my fiancé tonight," I say to reggie
"Toni it will break her to lose you again,"
"It'll break her to get her throat slit. She'll get over it,"
"Toni you know she won't,"
"Reggie, this is my decision, watch Cheryl tonight," I say
"For the record I'm not happy with this,"
"For the record- I don't care,"
Cheryl walks in and I hug her immediately
"You assholes told her,"
"Technically Austen told her, I want no part in the arrow punishment,"
"Arrows Cheryl?"
"Just an example,"
"This is why I have to make friends for you,"
"Why?"
"Because you threatened them less than a week into your friendship,"
"Fair enough,"
"You should've told me about this though,"
"I should've, but I didn't want to scare you, I'm handling it,"
"I want it on speakerphone if he calls again,"
"She put him on speaker phone and threatened to slit her throat," he says
"I want to listen though,"
"Fine whatever T, I told him to stop calling anyways,"
"Fine," I say
She kisses me and smiles against my lips
"I'm sorry I kept it from you, I didn't know what to do," she mumbles
"It's ok baby," I say "I forgive you,"
She giggles and pecks my lips one more time.
"Blossom, we're rematching ping pong," reggie says
She looks at me.
"Go ahead babygirl," I laugh "I'll sit with the boys,"
"Thanks babe," she says
"Have fun, no fighting," I say
"I promise," she laughs walking away
I sit beside Mox and infront of the twins.
I get a text from reggie
I need to beat her, help?"
I smirk and nod.
"Hey Cheryl, you suck," I tease
"Hey Toni, you're a bitch," she says still playing
"You don't mean that, you love me," I smirk
"I do, but you're being a bitch trying to make me lose,"
"You're going to lose anyways baby,"
She wins the point and looks at me.
"Babe stop it," she says "I'm actually good at this,"
I roll my eyes and let them play two more points.
"Watch this," I say to the boys sitting behind me
I walk over and stand behind Cheryl.
I grab her hips as she keep playing and kiss her cheek
She hums and keeps playing.
Obviously this isn't working.
I nibble at her ear and she quietly moans.
She loses the point.
"What are you doing?" She asks
"Just ignore me baby, I just miss you," I say kissing her ear
"Mhm ok," she says
She is way too relaxed to compete at this point.
"I love you Cheryl Blossom," I whisper
I let my hands roam around her body and kiss into her neck and jawline area until she ends up losing
"Thanks Topaz," reggie says
"No problem mantle," I laugh
"You did that on purpose!" Cheryl says
"Sorry baby, can't have that ego of yours getting too high," I joke "that's how people get hurt,"
"You're mean," she says "and you have a bigger ego than me,"
"Cheryl, I don't think that's possible," reggie says
"Reggie eat a dick,"
"You eat a dick," he says back
"Ew no," she says "dicks are gross,"
"You're gross,"
"Hey hey, she's not gross," I say "she's... great,"
"Thanks baby, you're great too," she says kissing my cheek
I laugh and put my arm around her shoulder.
Who knows what's going to happen tonight- but she'll be safe and that's what matters most.
