Break

Lexis POV

I'm waiting at my locker for Hudson. He had therapy last night which usually means he's not in a great headspace.

"Hey baby," I say kissing his cheek

"Hey Lex, can we talk?"

"Sure.." I say confused

We go into an empty classroom and he sighs

"My therapist thinks we should take a break," he says "thinks you're triggering me,"

"Oh.." I say "o-okay,"

"I'm sorry,"

"Hey.." I stutter "it's okay. I get it. I'll be here when you're better,"

"Why?"

"I love you Hudson, and I'm going to for the rest of my life,"

He nods and I rub his arm

"I'm still here for you, if you ever need to talk,"

"Thank you,"

I leave and go right to my moms office

"Hey Lex, give me one second," she says "what's up?"

I start bawling and she gets up and hugs me

"What's wrong honey?"

"Hudson broke up with me," I son hugging her

"Oh my.. why?"

"His therapist thinks seeing me triggers him,"

She sighs and rubs my back.

"Then maybe honey... it's for the best, and it may not be forever. He needs to heal,"

"I know,"

We stand there until the bell and she sighs.

"Am I a bad person for being upset?" I ask quietly "I know it's best for him, but..."

"Oh Lexi, it absolutely does not make you a bad person. You love him sweetheart, it's normal to be upset,"

"I wanna go home,"

"I have a class, but I'll call mom to pick you up,"

I nod and she calls Cheryl and I wait until she comes.

"Hey kid what's up?" Reggie asks coming in

"I'm sick,"

"No you aren't what's wrong?" He says sitting on the desk

"Hudson broke up with me, because his therapist said it'll be better for him and I don't want to be here,"

He hugs me and kisses my head

"I'm so sorry Lexi,"

My phone buzzes

"Cheryl?" He asks

"Yeah," I say with a small smile "she's not working today,"

"See you at practice?"

"I don't know yet,"

"Okay, I'll be over for dinner though,"

I go through the back with my hood up and get in the car.

"How are you feeling?" She asks

"Not good,"

"I know honey," she sighs starting the car "do you wanna talk?"

I shake my head and shrug

"It's not like it's complicated. He can't see me because it triggers him,"

"Exi?" Mateo says from the back

"Hi Mateo,"

"Pay with baw?"

"Maybe later buddy,"

"Oh,"

"He has a lot of energy today," Cheryl says

I laugh slightly and sigh

What did I do wrong?

Tonis POV

My second class starts filing in and it's mostly the football guys and basketball players so it's an.. energetic class.

They're joking around like usual and are talking smack.

"Coach! Where's Lexi? I wanna see her squash Jhorry at Basketball again!" Trey laughs

"Lexi won't be in class today," I sigh

"Why not? I picked her up this morning?" He asks "she was fine,"

"She's okay, might be back for practice. Not sure yet,"

"What happened?" Jhorry asks

"Drop it boys okay? She'll be back tomorrow,"

Hudson walks in and some of the guys ask him and he just shrugs and puts his stuff down on the stage.

"Good morning Hudson,"

"Hi Coach Topaz,"

"Are you still on half pace today?" I ask

"Oh.. I think so. May I go confirm with my coach?"

"Yeah of course,"

He nods and leaves

"Coach, is Lexi okay?" Will asks

"She's fine, don't worry about her," I sigh "split into teams, we're playing basketball,"

They split into teams and Hudson's coach said he can play full tilt today so he jumps in too.

He's playing awful. Not making shots or anything.

"Raeleigh, Hawaii's going to beat us if you play like this is at Nattys," Jhorry teases

"Yeah man, I don't really care about basketball anymore," he says passing the ball "not my thing,"

"What, dude I was joking,"

"I wasn't," he replies dryly

"Raleigh do you want to take a walk? Get some water?"

"Yeah sure, thanks coach,"

He leaves and i switch the teams.

"So Raeleigh and Lexi broke up? Is that what happened?"

"You're going to have to talk to her. I might be her mother but I'm also a teacher here. I can't discuss even if I knew the whole situation,"

"Oh right, sorry,"

We get through the period and Hudson comes and grabs his stuff.

"Hey Hudson can I talk to you for a second?"

"Sure Coach,"

"I know people are talking and some of the football guys are figuring out what happened.. if anyone is being an ass to you- let me know. Lexi explained it to me and you shouldn't have to explain it to anyone else,"

"Oh thank you Coach," he says "that means a lot,"

"If you or your family need anything give me a call,"

"Thank you,"

I nod and he leaves.

I feel bad for the two of them. When Cher and I broke up at Stanford because of that psycho it was really hard on me.

I hope they'll be okay.
