Lexis POV

I walk into gym class

Fuck I forgot Hudson was here.

"Hey baby I didn't see you this morning," my mom says

"Yeah I went for a run,"

"How are you feeling today?"

"I wish I didn't have class with him,"

"I know, but we're playing football today,"

I talk with her for a few minutes before a small argument breaks out between Trey and Hudson.

"DUDE YOU BROKE MY QB RIGHT BEFORE FUCKING NATTYS,"

"LEAVE ME ALONE! YOU DONT GET TO UNDERSTAND!"

Trey starts shoving and I get in the middle of it.

"STOP!" I yell "Trey- leave him alone,"

"He broke up with you Lexi. TJ told us,"

"Leave him alone," I snap "that's not me asking,"

"Okay whatever,"

He leaves and I give Hudson a small smile

"They shouldn't bother you anymore," I shrug "he's just worried cause I skipped practice,"

"Thank you,"

I nod and go warmup.

"So you're single now?" One of the volleyball players asks

"Yeah I guess," I sigh stretching my arms

"Wanna go to pops tonight?"

"No," I say "we broke up yesterday, have some class,"

"I- uh?"

"Bye,"

I walk away and my mom puts us into teams.

I'm with Trey, Jhorry, Eric, and Will so we're stacked.

"Oh and one more for Lexis team.. Rael... never mind... uh Daniel,"

Daniel, the volleyball player who just hit on me. I would've rather Hudson.

"Topaz I guess I'm with you,"

"Only because my mother hates me," I sigh

We go outside and play our first round robin game and win by a lot.

"Coach Topaz, this team is stacked,"

"Hey! She gave us Dan to even it out," Trey jokes

I high five him and Dan glares at us.

"That's not even funny,"

"You know what's funny? Hitting on someone the day after they end a year long relationship," I spit "fucking hilarious,"

"Alexis," my mom says "language,"

We start our second game and it's against Hudson's team.

"Why'd they put Hudson on you?" Trey asks a few plays in

"I used to practice footwork with him, gives them an advantage," I sigh

"He's not being a douche right?" Jhorry asks

"Oh of course not. He's a good guy,"

We stop them on defence and Trey snaps to me on offence and I run to my left.

Stupid Daniel makes the wrong cut and trips Hudson who falls on my knee.

"Ah!" I yell "Fuck!"

"Lexi!" Hudson says "I'm so sorry,"

"It's not your fault, ba.. Hudson,"

"Of course it is!" Dan says

"It's not," I say "it's you and your stupid seniority complex, your lack of ability to play any sport besides volleyball, and your stupid.. ow... your stupid obsession with needing to be in the middle of everything,"

"Wow okay Lexi tell me how you really feel,"

"I'm just getting started," I sneer

"Lex wanna get up?" Trey asks grabbing my hand

"Yeah,"

He helps me up and my knee buckles

"Yeah I might need you to stay there," I laugh

"Coach Topaz!" He yells

"Why has this field.. who crushed my QB's knee?"

"Uh Dan tripped Hudson," Trey says

"Great, so much paperwork," she sighs "Alexis your fine walk it off,"

"Yes mama,"

"Hm?"

"If you're allowed to tell me to walk it off, you're my mom- not my coach,"

"Fair enough,"

Trey helps me walk it off and Dan comes over

"You can't actually believe that was my fault,"

"Of course it was Daniel, who else? Hudson was doing his job," I snap

"You're still defending him. He's a dick Alexis,"

"It's Lexi,"

I go inside and to my moms office for ice and Reggie to tape my knee up.

"H-hey Lexi?" Hudson says from the doorway

"Oh hi," I say with a small smile

"I'm sorry I crushed your knee," he says "I didn't see the guy at all,"

"He's an ass Hudson, it's okay. Reggies going to tape it up and I'll be fine," I say "I promise,"

"Red or blue?" He asks showing two Gatorade's

"Red please,"

"I'll see you around?"

"Yeah for sure,"

He leaves and Reggie comes back in.

"Gatorade?"

"Hudson felt bad for crushing my knee,"

"He's still nice to you at least,"

"Yeah,"

He wraps my knee and my mom walks in

"Coach Will is coming in after school to look at your knee,"

"Thanks mom,"

"Eating in here?"

"Nah I'll go eat in the caf,"

"See you later,"

"Bye mom,"

I go to the cafeteria and sit with the football guys and one of the Swimmers sit beside me.

"Topaz wanna catch a movie tonight?"

"No,"

"Why not!?"

"Because I'm watching my siblings and I'm not interested in you,"

"But Raeleigh.."

"Just because Raeleigh Broke up with me doesn't mean I lower my standards,"

The football table heckles him and he leaves.

"Do you still like him?" AJ asks

"I always will," I sigh "and stop talking about it or I'll start crying again,"

"And that's all she does," TJ teases
