One month later.
Lexis POV
"Mama, I promised Mia and KC I'd take them out for a girls night tonight so we won't be in for dinner," I say going in to the kitchen
"Okay, sounds good, make sure KC is back home for 8?"
"Of course mom,"
I get the girls in the car and we drive to pops.
KC is only 9, she turns 10 soon. Mia just turned 11 so they're both still pretty young, but I love hanging out with them and it makes my moms happy that we're so close.
"Is TJ gonna to be sad that we left him out?" KC asks
"No, he's fine. AJ and LJ were coming over for dinner at our house tonight," I say "how was school?"
"It's good, my teacher isn't very nice though,"
"What about you Mia?"
"It's fun, at least some of the stuff the teachers talk about is more advanced,"
"You'll love Junior year, it's so much harder but it's more relevant stuff,"
We talk about school for a while and then start eating.
Hudson comes in and waves at me.
"Hey," he says coming over
"Hey how are you?"
"I'm good, you?"
"Good,"
"Mia, nice to see you again. Have the basketball guys been nicer?"
"They haven't bothered me," she laughs
"And.. I don't think we've met,"
"That's my youngest sister KC,"
"It's nice to meet you,"
"You too,"
His order is called and he sighs
"Well, I'll leave you to enjoy your meal- I don't suppose I'll be seeing you at our basketball state final," he says
"I might make an appearance," I wink
He smiles and heads out.
"He's nice," KC says
"He is," I agree
"He likes you," Mia says
"Hm?"
"Like, wants to date you," she laughs
"No, he doesn't,"
We laugh and then head home.
"Lexi can you play soccer with us?"
"Sure,"
We go outside and keep kicking the ball around for a while.
"Alexis?" Toni yells
"Ya?"
"Don't encourage the soccer," she jokes
"It's real football mama," Mia says
"Not in this house,"
"Toni.." Cheryl warns
They start bickering and we go inside.
"Mia, you can play soccer- was was just kidding," Toni says
"Mama, I know. Plus mommy said I could and she tells you what to do,"
"You're funny, mommy doesn't tell me what to do,"
"Yes she does,"
"Yes I do baby," Cheryl says kissing her
KC seems sad and I think Cheryl notices
"KC Baby, what's wrong?" She asks
"Nothing mommy, just tired,"
"Okay, lets go upstairs and maybe you can read to me tonight?"
She nods and the two of them go upstairs.
...
I drove to the school for the basketball state final.
I'm in ripped jeans and my varsity jacket.
I sit on the bleachers, on the Riverdale side, right near where the players come out.
The basketball boys run out and Hudson stops right near me.
"Topaz, glad to see you,"
"I told you I'd be here," I smirk "I keep my word,"
"Well, if we win- can I have your word that you'll come to pops with me for a milkshake,"
"Sure, but don't let coach yell at you for talking to me,"
He laughs and runs to go for tip off
My mom finally comes and sits beside me.
"Hey, which one is Hudson?" She asks
"Number 21," I say nodding towards the court "point guard,"
"Oh! Raeleigh," she says "he's in my 2nd period, Coach Dezara really like him,"
"He came here from Hawaii to play with him," I say "he's really nice,"
"Ya he seems nice," she says "you know our nationals and globals are at the same place as theirs?"
"Really?"
"Ya they're combining the two events because of money things,"
"That's cool,"
At half time we're winning and he comes over before going in the changeroom
"Looks like you'll be on the hook for that milkshake," he says
"Don't jinx it, you should know that,"
"Hey Coach Topaz, good to see you,"
"You too Raeleigh,"
"Go play," I laugh
He leaves to go to his changeroom and my mom laughs
"He likes you," she says nudging me
"Hm?"
"He likes you,"
I blush and sigh
"Mia said the exact same thing,"
We watch the rest of the game and Riverdale wins.
"Go have fun baby, I'll see you at home okay?"
"Okay,"
I go down to the floor with everyone else and Hudson comes right over to me.
"Milkshakes?"
"I said I stick to my word," I laugh "congratulations, I guess we're going to Miami together,"
"Ya that'll be great," he smirks
We head out and he starts walking towards pops
"Hudson, I have my car if you wanna take it," I say
"Oh sure, of course,"
We get in and he smirks
"Nice car,"
"Thank you, my brother got it for me,"
"TJ?"
"No," I laugh "my older brother Robby,"
"I don't know why I didn't make that connection before- Robby Topaz he used to play NFL right?"
"Yep, and now he's in the military like my mom used to,"
"That's cool,"
"He's coming home soon, which is nice. Might get to see him after Nationals,"
We get to pops and sit across from each other in a booth.
"Wanna share fries?" He asks "I'm starving,"
"Sure," I nod
I get a strawberry milkshake and he gets a vanilla one.
"Why strawberry?" He asks "everyone in this town seems to have a story on what their favourite milkshake is,"
"It's my moms favourite," I smile looking at my hands "since she was a little kid, and I always looked up to her so I always got strawberry and it just kinda stuck,"
"So you said she was in the military,"
"Oh.. actually I have two moms. I was talking about Cheryl," I laugh "sorry, I don't think you've ever met her,"
"No I haven't- but I'm sorry I assumed. In the village I grew up in, there is not a lot of same sex couples,"
"It's fine, don't worry about it," I laugh
We talk for a bit until I go to the washroom
He's kinda cute
I'm gay
He's so nice, and his smile..
Alexis you're gay. Stop.
Fuck me
I go sit back in our booth and he's looking at something on his phone.
I put my hand on his and break him out of his trance.
"Hey, is everything alright?" I ask
"Oh ya, sorry," he says "my Hawaii team just qualified for Nationals as well, and they weren't happy I left,"
"I'm sure they'll be happy for you once they see how successful you are here,"
"Maybe," he shrugs
We change the subject and stay for a few hours before deciding to head home.
"I'm just calling my Uber,"
"Nonsense, cmon I'll drove you home," I laugh "Ubers are dangerous in this city,"
He agrees and gets in the passenger seat.
"Thanks for the ride," he says as I get to his address,"
"Anytime,"
"I had a good night,"
"So did I, congratulations on the win,"
"Thank you,"
I watch him go inside and I feel..
Weird
Like I've never felt before.
Not with any of my friends

Not even with Cami
