Toni's POV
I wake up to sunlight on the day of Cheryl and I's 10 years anniversary
Wow I'm a lucky woman.
I roll over expecting her to be sleeping but she's not even there.
I hear Tony giggle outside the room so I pretend to sleep knowing they're coming in
"Tonness," Cheryl hums "wake up my love,"
I roll over and she laughs knowing I was awake.
Tony Junior and Lexi bound into the bed and hug me.
"Happy anniversary Mama, we made you breakfast," Lexi says
"Thank you guys," I say hugging them
Cher puts the plate on the side table and then climbs in beside me with Mia
"Mama," She says crawling towards me
"Hi baby," I say kissing her head
"Happy anniversary guys," Robby says from the door
"Thanks Robbie," I say
"Rob do you mind taking Mia for a few minutes? I wanna let Tones wake up and then we'll be down,"
He nods and takes Mia and the other two downstairs.
"Good morning baby," she says turning towards me
"Good morning Cher, Thank you for that,"
"How long were you awake for?"
"Only a couple minutes," I laugh
"Happy 10th anniversary," she hums
"Happy anniversary princess,"
I kiss her and she smiles against my lips and cups my face.
"I love you so much,"
"I love you too Toni,"
"10 years is a long freaking time to put up with me," I laugh
"It was a lot of fun Tones,"
I laugh and kiss her again.
"I'm going to go make actual breakfast because I let lexi make whatever the hell that is and you don't want to eat it," she laughs
"Okay, let me get dressed. I'll be down in a minute,"
"Okay,"
She kisses me and then goes downstairs
I get dressed and then go downstairs myself
Cher's standing at the counter so I grab her hips from behind and pull them towards me
"Whatcha making?"
"I'm cutting apple slices right now, the waffles are almost done,"
"Where are the kids?"
"Outside playing, Mia is in her high chair,"
I hum and kiss her jawline.
"I have a crazy idea Cher,"
"What?" She asks suspiciously
"We renew our vows- today,"
"You already set this up didn't you?"
I nod and laugh
"If you want to,"
"Of course I want to Tones,"
She turns around and kisses me
"4:00, in the backyard,"
"Okay," She says "I have a surprise too,"
"Hmm?"
"Reggie agreed to take the kids for the night and Robbie is staying over at a friends house,"
"Ooh I like your surprise more,"
She kisses me
"Me too,"
"Wanna talk about your and TJ's conversation?" I ask
"He's scared he's going to remind me of you too much," she sighs "I feel bad for him, but you two bonded so much,"
"He'll Be Fine love,"
"Mama! Mommy!" Tony says running in "come watch me!"
We follow him outside and he does a handspring
"Good job baby, where did you learn that?" Cher asks
"I watch mommy on tv," he says "when mama played football,"
"I forgot you were a cheerleader Cheryl," Robbie says
"She was a hot cheerleader," I wink
Cher hits the back of my head
"Mommy do a back flip," Lexi says
"Ya Cher,"
"You do a back flip," she says to me "I'm too old,"
"I'm not doing a backflip," I laugh
I pick Tony up and put him on my shoulders
"It's breakfast time guys," Cher says
We go inside and all sit around the table and eat
Cheryl's smile makes me happy. it reminds me of college.
"Toni stop it lets go," she giggles
I try and kiss her again and she pouts
"Tones we are not going to make your football practice if you don't start moving,"
"You're more important than football Cher, and you're sad. Can you please tell me why?"
"Fine," she sighs "I think you're still mad about the fight, like it was totally my fault and all, but we haven't showed any affection and you barely acknowledge me when we're in public. Like when we're in here it's great and I feel like we are back where we were. But if we're near your teammates or around campus you kinda seem cold. I know I sound ridiculous,"
"You don't at all Cher. I didn't want to tel You this but Reggie was talking to some of the news guys and they're severely homophobic so he just told him we're friends,"
"They don't know about us?"
"We're warming them up to it, I just wanted to make sure you were safe baby,"
She kisses me and I get a call from Reggie
"Topaz are you okay?"
"Ya we're on our way,"
"Alright,"
I hang up and we start walking towards the fields
"Don't walk so far away babes, come here," I laugh
"Toni I didn't want to force you to,"
"Cher I wear my wedding ring, they're goin to find out eventually,"
She hums and I kiss her cheek and interlace our hands
"Plus I missed this too," I say kissing her wedding ring
She smiles and we keep walking.
We get to the field and the boys are joking around.
"Topaz get over here!" One of them yells
"Ya ya, one second," I laugh
I turn to Cher and kiss her
"You're meeting Liz ya?" I ask
"Mhm, I'll see you later,"
"Bye,"
I kiss her and then wink
"I'll text you when practice is done,"
She walks away with a smile on her face
"Way to go Topaz!" One of the boys who didn't know about me and Cheryl says "she's hot,"
"I've been married to her for about a year bro," I laugh "trust me I know she's hot,"
"Married?"
"Why do you think she has a ring dude?" Reggie asks
He shrugs and we joke around until practice.
"Tones?" Cher says
"Huh?"
"You just blanked out there babe, you okay?"
"Ya I'm good C," I sigh "just thinking,"
"About what Mama?"
"About college," I say
"What's college Mama?"
"College is where you go after high school," I say
"Robbie go to college?"
"Yes sweetheart," I say "Robbies going to college soon,"
"Yay Robbie!"
We all laugh and finish our breakfast
The kids go upstairs and Cher smirks at me
"What college memories are you looking back on?" She laughs
"When you needed attention and were scared after our big fight,"
"You're funny," she laughs
"I can't believe it's been ten years,"
"It's been 10 amazing years,"
I kiss her and nod
It has been, hasn't it?"
Reggie, Liz, RJ, Liv, Veronica, and Archie show up
I'm really proud of Cher for giving Ronnie a second chance. We did some shit in high school that we aren't proud of to.
"Happy anniversary," Liz says hugging Cheryl
"Thank you," she says
We talk for a while and then go out back for the kids to play.
Everything hurts, I have a headache, muscle spasms, my eyes hurt like hell, and I keep coughing.
"Baby are you feeling okay?"
"Ya I'm good Cher, sorry,"
"Don't apologize baby," she says rubbing my back "it's just a bad day,"
"I know it just sucks,"
She nods and kisses my cheek
"Let me go grab some of your medicine," she says "you're a tad warm babes,"
"I'm okay Cheryl,"
She kisses my forehead and looks at me.
"I'm grabbing it,"
She leaves and I sigh
"Not feeling well T?" Reggie asks
I nod and cough again.
"Here T," he says handing me Kleenex
"Reggie it's time for me to go," I say gasping for air "after tonight, I want to just die, I'm done feeling like shit,"
"T I thought you were fighting this?"
"I was but my body is too tired,"
He nods and pats my back.
"I'm going to miss you Topaz,"
"I'm going to miss you too reggie,"
We watch Liv, Liz, and RJ play with the kids and Cher comes back with the meds.
"Thank you," I say
"Babe it's okay,"
I nod and we get ready for the ceremony
I walk down the aisle first, in a white and pink pantsuit, then I turn and see Cher in the most beautiful white and red dress.
"Welcome family and friends of Toni and Cheryl Topaz. These two have invited to be part of this day of love and commitment. Love is the eternal force of life. It's something that drives us to be better, to be stronger. Love has brought these two an eternity when they thought they only had childhood. Toni and Cheryl. When you first exchanged vows 10 years ago, when you met on the Southside of Riverdale 15 years ago- you never knew where life would take you. "Tones after you asked this morning I kept thinking of what I was going to say. There's not enough time left for me to say everything. I love you, in sickness and in health, to the ends of the earth. You're my everything Toni Topaz, since day 1. You're amazing, you're spectacular. You're my day one and my best friend. You've given me a home, and a safe, loving place to raise 4 beautiful kids," she says "forever and always, I love you babes,"
"And Toni,"
"Babes, I thought we had forever, but since we only have limited time left, standing here I am speechless. I thought we'd have forever, but then I thought. We don't count days Cheryl, we make the days count- and everyday with you makes me happier, it makes me that much more optimistic and it makes me want to fight- one more day at a time. I love you no matter what baby, thank you for staying with me and for being the best part of me, you're my one and only,"
"You may now close the ceremony with a kiss,"
I cup her face and kiss her.
"I love you," she whispers putting our foreheads together
"I love you too,"
We adjourn and send the kids with Reggie.
I love her
And I'm going to make her know it tonight
