Sylvia watched her favorite vampire from the back of the classroom as she usually did. Barely paying attention yet somehow always knowing what the teacher was talking about. A skill that even surprised herself, considering she knew how little she was actually listening.

Evania was paying far more attention to the lesson, and was constantly taking down notes, and being the perfect student that she was, something that Sylvia could never really understand why. Why would she want to be a perfect student when she can just hear everyone's thoughts?

When class ended, Evania collected her things and left the classroom without stopping, as she did everyday. It was like she was trying to avoid confrontation with everyone at all times.

It was kind of sad, but unfortunately couldn't be helped. Sylvia collected her own things and headed out afterwards, not worrying about catching up to the vampire because she was likely long gone already.

Janet nudged her as they exited the classroom before walking down the hall together. "You seem like your coping with her shyness well."

"Oh ha ha." Sylvia rolled her eyes at the brunette. "I'm still trying to get a feel for her. I know the important stuff, but I could still push too far and she'll shut me out entirely. So I need to take my time." The succubus stated, matter-of-factly.

"I'm sure you'll be fine. But staring at her is just going to creep her out."

"She didn't look back at me once." Sylvia chuckled. "I don't know if she's oblivious, or used to it, but other than her dashing out of the classroom she really doesn't seem to notice or care."

"From what she's explained, she always feels like everyone is staring at her trying to figure her out. So she tries her best to ignore it."

"It's a sad way to live, trying to avoid as many people as she can."

"It's her way of living. It's how she copes with all the evil that's happened in her life. If you plan on staying for the long haul, you have to get used to that."

"Oh, I plan on staying. We're mates, so... I don't really have a choice." Sylvia shrugged.

"What's that supposed to mean? You have to deal with it even if you don't want to?"

"Well, if I really hated it, even if she was my mate I could reject her. But I don't have any intention of doing that. I'd make sure there was absolutely no way of us ever being happy together. And from what I gather, that's already not the case."

"She does seem happier around you."

"I try my best." Sylvia grinned. "I spoil her just a little bit, without ever pushing too much. Candies and sweets, and cakes and pastries. Always just being kind and never going too far."

"It's a good start of course. It's certainly got you pretty far compared to everyone else at this school, and you helped her let a few more people in. Vanessa might not be close, but if not for you I doubt she would put up with Vanessa's much more straightforward nature."

"What do you mean?"

"Vanessa is basically you, but with an attitude and no off switch. She's just as bubbly and out going as you, but she also wields sarcasm and action as a potent weapon. She will always say what's on her mind with no regards to the consequences. But you tend to be more reserved."

"You have a fair point."

"If you didn't ease your way into her life, she would have never let Vanessa anywhere near her. But you gave her the idea to give people a chance, so thank you."

"Of course. I do my-." Sylvia paused and looked over her shoulder quickly before touching her hand to her left shoulder. She glanced around down the hallway like she was looking for someone.
