Sanem felt a gentle kiss on her shoulder and smiled.

– Good morning, aşkım.

– Morning, birtanem. – Can was squatting next to the bed, looking at her with a smile. – You need to get up. We're supposed to be at the clinic in an hour. I'll be waiting in the kitchen. Don't be long, porridge is almost done.

Sanem yawned and reluctantly sat up. Ever since her stomach problems started, she was exhausted, but this was the first time in five days that she was actually able to sleep through the night. Not even the worry for Leyla could stop her from blacking out as soon as her head touched the pillow. Her stomach rumbled when the smell of porridge reached her and she was up and dressed within minutes.

– Smells amazing. – She said when Can was pouring their tea.

– It does, but first take your meds.

Sanem grabbed the bottle from the counter and took two pills out. She hated taking any kind of medicine, but better this than nausea and throwing up. She swallowed and grimaced.

– I saw Emre sleeping on the couch in the living room. – She sat down and started eating. After a few days on empty stomach, even the porridge was amazing. Can added some raisins, chocolate chips and nuts and sat next to her with his own bowl. She didn't say anything, but the fact he ate it with her because that was all she could have, made her feel all fuzzy inside. – Do you know what happened?

– Dad said he stumbled into the living room when you and I were in the garden last night. Leyla saw him and told him not to bother coming to bed in this state so he spend the night in the living room. You like it? – He pointed to her bowl and lifted his brows. Sanem wasn't a fan of porridge, so he tried to make it as tasty as he could, considering she was placed under strict diet. He already broke the rules by adding raisins, chocolate and nuts.

– Love it. – She put another spoonful in her mouth and followed it with tea.

A few minutes later they were done and ready to leave. Just as they were on their way out, Emre woke up.

– Hey. Won't the two of you say "hello"? – He walked up to Sanem and hugged her.

– Hi. How are you?

Can looked at Emre and felt nothing. There was neither brotherly love nor anger. The man he was looking at was no longer his family – he was a stranger.

– Sanem, we have to go. – He turned around when the youngest of the Divit men wanted to greet him.

– Can, won't you give me a hug?

– I have to take Sanem to the doctor.

– Right. I hear congratulations are in order. – Emre took Sanem's hand and squeezed it. – You're very lucky.

Sanem noticed him trying hard to hide the pain and felt the wave of compassion. She wanted to embrace her brother-in-law and tell him everything will be fine, but she couldn't. She didn't know that it would and most importantly, Can seemed determined to keep Emre at arm's length and she was always going to take his side.

– Thank you, but you're wrong. I'm not pregnant.

– Sanem, we'll be late. – Can was already holding the door open for her.

– I'm coming!

Leyla stood in the hallway, listening to Emre and her sister talk. Lately her husband was drinking more and more and last night, angry after the fight with Sanem, she told him to sleep on the couch. When she woke up this morning, for a moment everything was fine. That is until she looked to his side of the bed and it was empty. Memories came crushing down and anger stirred again. Now she overheard Sanem wasn't pregnant and everything got even more complicated.
