This one is a long one, so don't give up.

North was kind enough to let Jack stay at the Pole for a few days. Jack was too scared to go see what had become of the new Arendelle, there was no telling how much larger it would be now. He imagined the stories of the brave Ice Queen Elsa defending it from the dreaded Bloody Mary. He spent most of his time moping around the workshop. North would try and cheer him up and offered him a various assortment of treats, hot chocolate, toys, and advice. Some of the advice helped but he still couldn't replace the hole Elsa had left in his heart.

One day after about a week, Jack found his way back to the window where he had last seen Elsa. All the wonders of North's workshop could not ease the pain of his broken heart. Not even the Sleigh could distract Jack for long, and everybody likes the Sleigh. Jack pressed his finger against the glass and created a silhouette of Elsa out of frost against the window. He brought it to life and had it replay the memory of the day she let everything go and blossomed. As he watched the figure step away from the window and dance he could hear her voice, he could even imagine her sing. He couldn't escape the thought that she had once been his treasure, but as Queen she would have found a husband and been his treasure and there was no way for him to stop it.

North came into his office where Jack watched the dancing Elsa spray snow from her fingertips. He sat down by Jack and offered him one of the cups of hot chocolate he had brought with him. "Here, I added peppermint just for you."

Jack took the hot chocolate and drank it while never taking his eyes off the dancing Elsa, "thanks North, and thank you for letting me stay for as long as you have."

"You are welcome Jack, you know we all get our hearts broken, it would be cruel to throw you out in the snow, not that it would be the snow that would bother you. " North sat his large figure next to Jack and drank some of his own hot chocolate. "I really misjudged you, Jack."

"How do you mean?" Jack asked while still moping.

"You are the immortal spirit of winter Jack Frost, bringer of joy to billions of children, with a mischievous grin and a laugh, as fleeting as the wind, and a prankster to be rivaled. Never once did I think that you would have it in you to watch Elsa walk out of your life like you did. Had I been in your shoes at your age, I might have tried to stop her. But you helped her do the right thing, you are becoming a man Jack, and I have to say that I am proud of you." North sipped his chocolate.

Jack looked up at North, "thank you," Jack's lip quivered, but there were no more tears he planned on crying for anyone else ever again. Elsa would be his first and his last. He would be lying if he didn't say that North's words at that time gave him a little bit of comfort.

"And it is ok to cry, part of being a man is to know that there is a time and a place for everything, even spilling a tear or two for the women you love. Don't think I didn't notice how you two acted around each other, the way you two looked at each other."

"It is just called starring. It doesn't mean anything, besides it's not like she felt the same way about me. Now she's home with her prince charming and a dozen kids, ruling a kingdom that is sure to prosper."

"You really are thick in the head Jack Frost, she loved you too. And who wouldn't you are a courageous dashing young man with a taste for mischief, not unlike myself when I was young." North gave a hardy laugh of self-approval.

"Do you really think she loved me back, why didn't she say something?"

"She was probably worried that she might never see you again and didn't want to hurt you." North stood up. "Stay here as long as you need to Jack, but remember that there are still children in the world and even if they can't see you, they still need you just as much as they ever have." North left Jack to his thoughts.
