you were visiting your parents, who still lived in your childhood home. your room was still the same, filled to the brim with posters of your favorite music artists that you listened to throughout high school. it was like time stopped and you were a high schooler all over again.

"y/n, we'll be back in two hours!" your mom announced. you walked out of your room and waved at her and your dad.

"okay! be careful!" you happily said to them. your parents walked out of the house and closed the door behind them.

as your walked through the hallway, you looked at the pictures on the wall. most of them were you and your family, however, there was one photo that caught your eye. two kids, a boy and a girl, were sitting in a tree house playing with toys. you smiled and recalled the day that your father had brought you to the forest, where he and your neighbors built the tree house.

"i wonder if it's still there..." you spoke to yourself. you walked to the front of your house and put on your sneakers. then, you walked out and around your house to meet the trees that have been there since you could remember.

you walked through the trees and found a very familiar dirt path. you brushed a few leaves and sticks aside and continued walking down the path. it took you a few minutes, but you reached a giant tree that had a ladder built on it. you looked up and saw an old but built tree house.

"wow," you said and grabbed onto a piece of the ladder. however, the piece broke off from the tree and remained in your hand, "looks like i'm not going there." you tossed the piece of wood onto the ground.

"y/n?" you turned around when you heard someone speak.

in front of you stood a guy who was quite taller than you and had brown hair. you kept staring at him, not recognizing him.

"i'm kunhang," he introduced and a thousand lightbulbs lit up in your head.

"no way," you spoke and both of you walked up to each other. "i can't believe it's you!" you said and both of you hugged each other. "it's been what, seven years?" you asked him once you stopped hugging him.

"i think eight since you went to boarding school," he said.

"damn, i can't remember," both of you laughed. "i heard about the singing group, congrats!" you said and kunhang smiled brightly at you.

"thanks," he said and looked behind you. "it's still here, huh?" you turned around and stood next to him, "i'm surprised it's still up."

you nodded your head, "yea, but i don't think it's going to last if we both climbed up there."

"i saw the piece of the ladder you grabbed when i walked over," he said. "wanna sit?" kunhang pointed to some tree stumps.

"sure," you said and both of you walked over the tree stumps and sat down. "how long are you in town for?" you asked him.

"just a few days," he said. "how about you?"

"me too, i leave friday. i'm going back to hong kong. i just moved to a new apartment," you mentioned.

"oh wow, congrats!" he said.
