꧁༒☬𝓕𝓪𝓵𝓵 𝓭𝓮𝓮𝓹𝓮𝓻 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓭𝓮𝓮𝓹𝓮𝓻; 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓼𝓲𝓻𝓮𝓷𝓼 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓼𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝔂𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓼𝓸𝓷𝓰☬༒꧂You took a few moments to calm yourself. "Anyways, we drove; for quite a while actually. I had started getting tired; road trips had always been the best sleep medicine for me. Eventually, I almost forgot why we had left the house in the first place". You took a breath, really remembering what happened.
◇♧♧♧◇
You were quite small, your head could barely look out the window as you leaned against the door. You were so tired and you had no idea where dad was taking you. Your eyelids had really started becoming a struggle to keep up. There was nothing but darkness flitting past you, the only source of light from the very front of the car. Its headlights. Just then his phone rang. He picked it up almost immediately. "Hello love", he mumbled softly. Mom! You sat up, leaning to the front to hear what she was saying.
"Where are you? Where's Y/N?".He laughed shortly. "Oh don't worry dear, I'm sorry, I completely forgot to let you know. Me and Y/N are going to watch some movies. I wanted to treat her to something too, since she isn't that interested in shopping".
The movies? Had dad lied to you? Or maybe he had tried to surprise you? Excitement bubbled up in you; you were going to the movies!
You heard your mother laugh in relief. "Oh, that's good. That's so sweet of you, honey! Thank you! When will you be back?".
"Mmm, I'm not sure, but the movie's quite long. I think you'll be asleep by then".
"That's a very long movie, Michael. Y/N can't be in bed that late".
He snorted. "I say tonight should be an exception, don't you think?".
She sighed before answering. "Alright then, I'll see you later".
"Can I speak to mom?", you whispered eagerly in dad's ear. He ignored you, saying goodbye and hanging up. "Go sit back Y/N and put your seatbelt on", he mumbled. You frowned, obeying nonetheless. "When are we going to get there?", you asked. "When we get there", he grumbled.
You were confused by his shift in mood. It was only a short while before the car slowed down and you drove along a gravel road. The bumpiness awakened you from your sleepy daze, making you look out the window. You could see nothing but darkness, but you could feel the depth. You were very high up somewhere. "Dad, where are we going?", you asked again. At this point you weren't so sure you wanted to see the movie anymore, you were tired, and you felt scared. You'd never heard of cinemas so far out of town.
"Y/N, would you be a little more patient?", he mumbled, his voice tight. You were taken aback by his abrupt scold. The car came to a sudden stop. Barely had the vehicle stopped; dad threw open the door and got out, almost tearing out your door. You jumped back in surprise, he reached in, grabbing your upper arm tightly and dragging you out of the car. You were so taken by surprise that you didn't have time to form proper words, but instead a low whimper left your mouth.
He slammed the door shut, dragging you with him. You looked up to see a huge white building, lit up my dozens of bright lights. It looked almost like a hospital. You couldn't focus on it for to long, because the grip on your arm had slowly started to hurt. "Dad?", you squeaked, scared of the man holding you suddenly. His face had nearly taken on a new identity, it was cold and emotionless, so different from him usual warm, friendly face.
He dragged you through a pair of glass doors that opened without him having to touch them. Everything shone brightly in white. It smelled sterile and clean. There were a few people that walked around and looked up in surprise when you and your father entered, yet looked down the moment they seemed to spot your father.
He roughly set you down on some chairs that were against the wall across from the secretary counter. "Banner!", he bellowed, "she's here. Get her ready". He looked like a fierce monster, standing above you. Tears sprung to your eyes, fear consuming you. Mom! Where's mom?!
Your lip quivered, your breaths coming in faster. He looked down at you and then sighed. He crouched down in front of you, putting his hand on your shoulder. He smiled at you, it looked so genuine and warm. "Don't cry", he mumbled, "we're just here to help you with ... your quirk".
"B-But I thought we were going to the cinema", you sobbed. "Ah", he spoke slowly, "see I couldn't tell mom that we were coming to my work to help you with your quirk. She wouldn't approve; she doesn't understand how much we can help you here". You frowned, shaking your head as tears spilled down your cheek. Anything mom didn't approve of, neither did you. "I want to go home. My quirk is fine", you mumbled, slurry with crying. He smiled tightly at you. "Don't worry", was all he said, before standing up and walking away into another room.
It was only a few seconds were you felt lost and small, before another man approached you. He had brown hair besides the tips, which were green. Below his eyes, like triangles, his skin was also coloured green.
He crouched down, smiling. "Y/N, right? I'm honoured to make your acquaintance", he sounded very warm and kind, "don't cry, alright? Will you come with me?". His eyes were a brown warm. He stretched out his hand in a friendly manner. You swallowed choosing to trust him and take his hand.
"That's a good girl", he praised, leading you down a hallway opposite to the one dad had went into, "how old are you?". You sniffed, holding his hand tightly. "I-I'm 9", you mumbled. His eyebrows shot up. "9?", the gentleness had momentarily left his voice as he glanced over his shoulder, something seeming to bother him. You nodded, unsure.
"You're a very brave girl, alright?", he said, squeezing your hand gently before leading you into a room that looked like a surgical room. There was a large white bed with straps hanging loosely on either side. Large, scary looking machines stood around the small room. There was a large window looking into the room, from where you could see a bunch of people in in white coats shuffle around, looking for seats. "What's happening?", you asked the man."You'll be alright, don't worry", he smiled at you, suddenly lifting you onto the bed. "Will you lie down for me?", he asked, pulling one of the strange looking machines closer. It was a square box with a computer screen looking from it. There were many wires and tubes leading to needles attached to it. You shook your head. He sighed lightly. "Please? I don't want to make you", he smiled, but his voice was threatening. You shuffled back in fear. You just wanted to go to mom. Why didn't she know anything was wrong?!
Your dad suddenly stepped into the room; he was wearing a white lab coat too. "Y/N, it's alright, you can lie down. Nobody's going to hurt you", you decided to trust the familiar kindness in his voice and lied down, mainly in fear that the kindness would go away again.
