The sunlight flooded the room, your eyelids helpless against the bright light. You opened your eyes, a burning sensation running over them the moment you did.
It took you a moment to remember that you were in your old childhood room. You sat up, trying to recall why you were here again. In front of you, you saw a figure lying on the couch, their chest rising and falling in deep, rhythmic breaths.
Your brows furrowed, trying to identify who was lying there. You were startled awake as you remembered everything, recognizing the person still sleeping there.
"Dabi?", you called out softly. No response. He was still fast asleep. You shifted uncomfortably in the bed, something prodding at the back of your head, but you couldn't seem to figure out what it was.
You heard voices coming from the living room. Pushing the bed sheets from yourself, you got up, heading for the origin of the voices.
You dragged your feet into the living room, finding your mom speaking with Jason over a cup of coffee. Your stomach clenched up in fear as you spotted Jason. They both looked up, acknowledging you.
Your mom's hair stood in all directions as she sent you a sheepish grin. "Morning Y/N", she mumbled tiredly. Walking up next to her, you smiled at her. "Morning mom", you mumbled. You looked up at the clock, it was 7 in the morning. As far as you had found out from Jason yesterday, you still had 3 hours until you had to get going.
The awkward tension between you and Jason was nearly visible. You looked up at him, meeting his eyes. His expression didn't give anything away, but there was something about his eyes that seemed off.
"You good?", he was the one to speak up first. You forced a smile, nodding.
"Yeah, you?".
He nodded softly. "Yeah". Your mom looked between you and Jason. "Did you guys fight again?".
You let out an awkward laugh, shaking your head. "Not as far as I know", you glanced at Jason, trying to see if he was of the same mindset. He chuckled, shaking his head.
"Where's Dabi?", your mom asked. "Oh, he's still asleep", you spoke, making yourself something to drink. She giggled. "Yeah, it did seem like he had a good amount to drink yesterday", she sent you a mischievous look.
A smile crept its way up your lips. "You could say the same", you joked, taking a step outside. You heard your mother laugh as you walked outside. The water was a clear, light blue, the waves gently crashing onto the shore.
You took a seat, letting the water slosh against your feet. Taking a sip of your drink, you stared out ahead; an endless blue staring back at you. Almost the same colour as Dabi's eyes when the sun hit them.
Shaking your head, you smiled to yourself. Yesterday, had been an ... interesting version of Dabi to get to know. You didn't mind though; you had actually quite enjoyed it.
Lost in your thoughts, you were abruptly shaken when you heard barking. You looked around; last thing you knew your mother didn't have a dog. You spotted a dog running towards you.
