The day went by relatively quickly without much happening. Everyone was at HQ for once, but not much changed. Everyone just indolently kept to themselves, waiting for the meeting Shigaraki had called everyone here for.
You stared out of the window, lazily watching the colours of the dawning sunset. What could the meeting be about? You sighed. A mission, of course. What mission though? Why were you suddenly included? Did he think you were ready now? Nervousness bubbled up inside of you.
If he had called everyone here for this, this mission was definitely not a small one. You swallowed. Despite knowing there was trouble ahead, you knew that you couldn't possibly be prepared until the actual moment would come and you'd have to do god knows what.
A sudden knock on your door made you jump. You had expected Dabi to come get you, but instead it was 2 white eye sockets standing out on a black mask that popped through the gap in the door. Twice, you identified him. "Y/N, right?", he spoke up, nodding for you to follow him. You jumped from the window seat, walking after him.
"Twice", you greeted him, lightly bobbing your head. "So, you're the newest addition to the team?", he peered down at you, as you walked beside him, "you look so frail and weak. You can't possibly be the one that Shigaraki was after".
You raised an eyebrow at him. "Well, I'd like to hope so-", before you could continue, he cut you off, waving his hands around almost frantically in sudden excitement. "Man, you gotta be so powerful, if Shigaraki went through all that shit to get you here", he stopped suddenly, leaning in close to your face, "tell me your secrets". You were momentarily thrown off by his sudden switch in moods.
"But didn't you just say-", once more you were cut off.
"You won't survive very long. You'll die a quick and painful death. Frankly, I'm sure you have no idea what's coming at you", he spoke fast, almost in a jittery sort of way as he suddenly pressed his index finger to his temple. You opened your mouth to say something, yet you weren't sure yourself what it was that you wanted to say. He let out a seemingly random deep chuckled. "But oh", he spoke slowly, a dangerous tone to his voice, as you neared the entrance to the entertainment area, "I bet this situation is going to cause some people to wish they had treated you better".
You were stunned into silence as he abruptly picked up his pace, leaving you to walk on your own into the entertainment area. You slowed down to a stop, trying to process the rollercoaster of a conversation you'd just had. Cause ... people to wish they had treated you better? Your brows scrunched up in thought as you stared down at your hands. Had he been insinuating that you'd already become one of them, like them? You wriggled your fingers. Could you really be like them? Ruthless killers? Cold hearted? Torn apart by hatred? Driven mad by vengeance? Or maybe it wasn't the fact that you'd become like them, maybe he was saying ... maybe he was saying you'd always been one of them; from the very beginning.
You stepped into the entertainment area. It was as if you were the signal they had all been waiting for. Almost as if in sync everyone moved to surround the pool table – so you did the same. You looked around at the table. Dabi's face wasn't among them. You wondered where he could be.
You had a second of bone-chilling eye contact with Shigaraki before he took a deep breath and opened his mouth to speak. "Listen good", he started, his voice deadly serious.

"That's the objective of this mission", he mumbled, stopping for a moment to let everyone process what he'd just said. You looked around, your mouth parted in shock. Nobody else seemed surprised or even lightly bothered by what he had just said.
"Kidnapping?", you repeated, looking at Shigaraki in disbelief. He raised an eyebrow at you. "Yes. Got anything to say about it?", he asked, yet his voice was dangerously low. It was if he was daring you to oppose. Yes, frankly you had a ton of shit to say about this.
You clamped your jaw shut, swallowing your words. "No. I just need you to elaborate", you mumbled through clenched teeth. He held your eyes for a second longer and then nodded ever so slightly, digging his hand in his pocket and pulling out – with four fingers only you realized – a picture and dropped it into the middle of the pool table. "Bakugou Katsuki", he stated, "that's our target". You looked at the face on the picture. Or what you could identify of it.
There was a kid, chained to a ... podium? With large, cement-like looking blocks around his hands, a muzzle on his face. He didn't look very happy, if anything it looked as if though he was ready to go feral. Despite his absurd way of being set on a podium and looking extremely angry, a pang of guilt shot through you. It was just a kid. He couldn't have been more than around 16. You looked up at Shigaraki, waiting for him to carry on explaining.
He caught your stare, as if expecting it. He slightly leaned in towards the group. "With all it's damned rules, society has bound its own hands and feet", the creepy, psychotic undertone in his voice was back, "and we seem to be not the only ones who feel suppressed". You had to suppress a sigh as the realization of what it meant to be in this league hit you.
You weighed your chances. The deal you had with Shigaraki. The moment you retaliated your family would die. Not too mention, whether or whether not you refused, he would still continue with the mission. He'd simply dispose of you and your family if you didn't play along. You thought about the kid. Well, by the sounds of Shigaraki he didn't plan on killing him, yet anyways, it sounded like he wanted him to join the league. You stared at Shigaraki; he was a lot smarter than he let on. The only problem now was, would the kid agree?
You stared at the picture again. He looked angry, that's for sure, but if he'd want to join the league? You didn't think so, especially, as you'd noticed, if he was attending UA high. He was aspiring to become a hero. It would take a lot more than just a little suppression to have someone turn their sides. On top of that, from the looks of it, this kid looked like he had a one-track mind. One clear goal, reach it at it all costs.
You closed your eyes. Maybe you were looking too deep into this. You opened your eyes, to find the familiar scarred hand resting next to yours. You looked up at Dabi in surprise; you hadn't noticed he was here. He spared you a short but meaningful side glance before returning to look at Shigaraki. You followed his lead.
You weren't happy about this, but if you could involve yourself in this mission a little more, maybe you could make sure that at least the kid was safe. "What's the plan?", you asked, sending a determined glance at Shigaraki.
His eyebrows rose faintly in surprise as a sly grin made its way up his face. "Now, that's the spirit", he mumbled, chuckling darkly.
