Neville's POV
In order to frame one of the Carrows, we had to first take the wand. This itself was a nearly impossible feat.
We decided to steal Alecto's wand, because she was smarter, and knew more powerful spells, so it was better if she was disarmed. Also, she could probably talk her brother out of thinking it was her.
"But, apart from strait up disarming her how could we get it?" Luna asked one meeting.
"Why can't we just Expelliarmus her?" Parvati asked.
"Because she'd know we did it."
"But what if we were disguised?"
"Polyjuice Potion? It could help us frame Amycus."
"But how could we get his hair?"
"Maybe we could run up and grab it?"
"That would give away our plan, and guarantee us detention for a month."
"What if we distract him?"
"How?"
Ginny appeared to be fighting an international battle. She was biting her lower lip so hard, I thought it would bleed.
"I could distract him."
A shocked silence.
"Absolutely not! There's another way, no. You aren't going to, I won't let you, you can't." Luna was speechless.
"I'm not going to flirt back, or anything, I'll simply put myself in a position where he can attack me. You'll show up, we jinx him into a jelly, theme grab a hair and run. If anyone gets in trouble it's him.
"There are so many things that can go wrong there..."
"Can you think of anything else? If we forcibly take the hair, he'll instantly know our plan. And he didn't become a Death Eater for nothing, so we can't just duel him then Obliviate. He has to be taken by surprise."
"What if you lose?" Luna was pacing.
"You can be nearby."
"That's still too much to chance."
"Believe me, I've been wanting to jinx him for weeks now. And I'll try to make it as painful as possible."
"That's not my point."
I finally spoke. "It's...a risk. But it's Ginny's choice. If you really want to, we can't stop you. Just be cautious."
"Of course."
Ginny's POV
I can't believe I just suggested this. What I'm risking is... Luna's right, this is a stupid idea. It won't work, Amycus will win..
I can't think about it.
We continue working out the little kinks in the plan.
The polyjuice potion wouldn't be ready for a month. The Room happily provided the ingredients, but when we asked for the full potion, nothing happened. Padma informed us that it was one of the five exceptions to Gamp's Law of elemental Transfiguration.
The meeting goes by in a daze, and all I can think about is what I promised to do. When the meeting ends, I stand there for several moments.
"Are you ok?" I think the voice is Neville's but when I look up, it's Michael.
"Yeah, I guess so."
"You don't have to do this."
"I know."
I look him in the eyes, and realize we're alone for the first time since those hours in secluded corridors. I'd forgotten he was my first boyfriend.
"You understand what you're risking, but you want to do this anyways? The entire prank isn't worth that."
I suddenly start crying, and can't stop.
"It just seems so hopeless. It seems like eventually he'll win, and I want it to be on my terms. Besides, I trust you. You won't let anything happen. And hopefully if we do this right, Snape will punish him so hard he won't touch me again."
"That's a lot of ifs."
"I know."
Wordlessly, Michel left.
I sank down to the floor, and sat there for what felt like hours.
So, who's really mad at me? Thoughts, jokes, random letter combinations.
Here
Thanks,
Aria
