'So girls, it's your birthday coming up soon,' Mom reminds us the next morning at breakfast. A heaping pile of dishes sits in the sink. 'What were you thinking of doing?' 

Mom regards the dishes with an expression of annoyance, silently telling us with her eyes to do our own dishes. 

'I was thinking a picnic in the park,' I tap my chin thoughtfully. 'With some of our friends.' 

'That sounds wonderful!' Marinette squeals, jumping out of her seat, toast in hand. 'We'll have to invite Adrien-I mean Adrien-I mean ALYA, and uh N-nino and Adrien, and uh-' 

'Wow,' I tip my head towards her, smirking. 'You managed to say his name three times in that sentence, that's definitely a record.' 

'And y/n,' Mom says, ignoring that last comment, 'You'll have to invite Cat Noir, and possibly Ladybug.' She winks. 'I saw that news piece on you two.' 

'Mom!' I complain loudly. 'WHY?' 

'Oh and why don't you two invite your  boyfriends to dinner tonight!' She suggests excitedly. 

Marinette shakes her head rapidly, huffing and sitting at the table. 

She avidly avoids eye contact. 'Marinette has a boyfriend?' My mouth drops open. 'Who?' 

'He's not my boyfriend,' Marinette glowers. 'He's-just a friend. Besides you know I like-' 

'Don't you dare say it.' 

'Adrien,' she smiles with a delusional expression on her face. 

'Marinette, you just need to accept the fact he's not into you,' Mom shrugs, continuing her dish washing. 

'Savage,' I gasp, and she throws the dish towel at me. 'So who's this other guy?' 

'It's Luka.' Marinette blushes. 'He's not my boyfriend though, he's just a-' 

'Pleaaase don't infect me with the 'he's just a friend virus' it's already infected half of our school.' I collapse on the table. 'I'd actually like to meet him though.' 

'Invite him to dinner!' Mom  urges. 'And Cat Noir!' 

'Mom, he's a superhero,' I remind her stubbornly. 'He doesn't have time to come to dinner with us. What if someone is akumatized?' 

'I'm sure Ladybug would understand,' Mom says, waving her hands like it's no big deal. 'It's just for one night.' 

Marinette scoffs. 'Ladybug will NOT be taking care of Paris while Cat Noir's on a date.' 

'What if Ladybug's on a date as well?' I say innocently. 

She wrinkles her nose. 'I guess I could invite Luka.' 

'Yeah. Do it,' I say sweetly. 'I'll just call up Cat Noir-oh wait, I don't have his phone number. Oops. Guess he can't come.' 

Marinette rolls her eyes. 'You'll find a way.' 

'I'll tell your Father to start dinner as soon as he finishes with work,' Mom claps her hands. 'Oh this is so exciting!' 

...

'I'd love to come meet your parents,' Adrien says to me after class. 

'Shhh, Kagami's watching,' I poke him, seeing her walk by with-well no one. All alone. 

'Don't worry, she can't see us,' Adrien says, pulling me behind the pillar. 'Besides, I'll be coming as Cat Noir, correct?' 

'Of course,' I say. 'I haven't told Marinette yet.' 

'Yeah, I figured,' he scratches the back of his neck. 

'Speaking of Marinette,' I hesitate. 'Luka's coming too. Mom seems to think that he and Mari are together.' 

'Are they?' 

'No-well, I don't know.' 

'Luka,' Adrien looks thoughtful. 'That's uh-that's Juleka's brother right?' 

'Correct.' 

'He's nice,' Adrien comments. 

'I just hope no one gets akumatized.' I say worriedly. 

'Well if they do, I'll save you....darling.'
