I pace around my room at quarter to 6, glancing anxiously at the window. Marinette's lying flat on her back on my bed, staring at the ceiling, the same look on her face.

'What if they don't come?' She repeats for the twentieth time. 'What if they stood us up?'

I scrunch my face up with exasperation. 'They won't Mari, just chill.'

'Easy for you to say,' Marinette says, panting heavily. 'You and Cat Noir are a thing! Luka and I-well-'

'You are not just friends,' I stomp my foot on the ground like a child, flopping down next to her with a huff. I straighten out the bedsheets, rolling Mari off my bed. She catches herself before hitting the floor.

'Y/n...' she whines, drawing out my name.

'First of all,' I sniff, 'If you don't get over Adrien soon, you're going to go insane. Do you want to go insane, Mari?'

'No.' Marinette sighs. 'I mean, I think we're well past that stage.'

'Now, how does Luka make you feel?' I ask, regarding her expression with deep curiosity.

'Happy,' She smiles uncontrollably. 'Like I can be myself. I don't stutter or anything-like when I'm with Adrien. I-'

'Sounds like true love to me,' I say, glancing out the window again. 'Oh shoot, they're here.'

I see the outline of Cat Noir's costume walking up to the door, stick in hand, followed closely behind by a blue-haired-guitar-carrying boy. He stands slightly taller than Adrien, I mean Cat Noir, but just by a few centimetres.

'Oh boy,' Marinette squeaks. 'This is a disaster-disaster-a disaster! Why oh why, did I agree to this?'

'Mari! Y/n!' Dad calls from downstairs. 'They're here!'

'Eeeee-this is a nightmare,' Marinette rests her face in her hands.

'Don't worry,' I place a hand on her shoulder, leading her to the stairwell. 'It can't possibly be worse than the constipation capsule incident.'

Marinette wails into her hands. 'Don't remind me.'

...

'So Luka,' Dad eyes him with a suspicious look. 'Is being a musician a career that pays well?'

Luka doesn't even flinch. 'Well, for the time being, yes. I have plans to become a famous singer-songwriter-guitarist, just like Jagged Stone.'

'That's wonderful Luka,' Mom smiles warmly at him.

I sigh inwardly as Dad turns to Cat Noir.

'And you, Cat Noir-or do you have a different name you go by? Cat Noir seems a little-' he wiggles his fingers. 'Professional.'

'Well, you can call me 'Kitty' if you like, but I'm not sure how Y/n would feel about that-' He winks at me from across the table. I shake my head, kicking him with my foot. His grin grows wider. 'I would tell you  my real name, but I can't reveal my identity.'

'I know all about that-' Marinette whispers under her breath.

'But you know who he is, right?' Dad turns on me. 'This isn't a complete stranger sitting at my dinner table...'

'No-of course I do,' I assure him. 'But I can't tell either.'

'Humph,' Dad shakes his head. 'Anyways, at least you're able to protect her with your superpowers.'

'DAD!' I grimace.

'Always and forever,' Cat Noir sends me a sweet smile.

I roll my eyes.

'Marinette tells me you wrote her a song,' I say to Luka. 'That's amazing.'

'Yes, well a girl like Marinette deserves a melody like no other,' Luka says smoothly.

This boy is good..I-

'I could write Y/n a song,' Cat Noir says, somewhat defensively.

Suddenly, a beeping fills the table.

'Oh Kitty-I mean Cat Noir,' I sigh. 'Don't tell me you used a cataclysm on the way here.'

'I had to,' He says.

'You had to?' I repeat dryly.

'A tree almost fell on a kitten on my way here,' he explains. 'We cats have to stick together.'

'Well,' Mom glances at me. 'At least take some food home to share with your family.' She hands him a plastic back full of passion-fruit macaroons, courtesy of Marinette's stash. 'We'll have to have you back another time.'

'Thank you, Mrs. Dupain-Cheng.' He smiles, thankfully it's a less flirty smile than most of his other ones.

'Bye,' I say, standing up to hug him.

'See ya darling,' Cat Noir whispers, winking before jumping off into the night.
