Sloane Beck

I liked him when he was himself around me.

"Blake," I frowned while saying his name. It had been fifteen minutes since Brynn came into the room and ripped Blake an entire new ass but he hadn't said one word. After he watched me burp Indie, he handed Maesin off to me.

I sat in a rocking chair across the room from him while having Maesin in my arms as he pouted by the window. Indie had returned to her crib.

"Blake," I called out to him again. Finally, he looked at me—no signs of speaking anytime soon.

"Don't be upset with me," I spoke as he raised his eyebrows. "You can be upset about someone saying shit to you that isn't true but you have no right to be upset to be mad about someone saying the truth." I rocked Maesin as her eyes started to flutter, her afternoon nap apparently wasn't long enough.

"You can't be mad that you met someone whose life is being affected by your father's choices. If anything, you need to tell Brynn why she won't be hurt by this and how you can help her." I smiled down at the tiny baby who was lying peacefully in her sleep.

Hearing his body shuffle, I looked up to see him rubbing his face with his hands.

He looked exhausted.
