I sighed to myself as me and Lady finally arrived outside the Devil May Cry office. This was a place where I didn't exactly want to be right now, and for good reason. It all centred around an ordeal between myself and Dante.
You see, it turns out Dante isn't the most suitable business owner out there. He wound up incurring debts to a LOT of people and it wasn't like he got payed much as it was since there hadn't been much need for demon hunters.
At first, I payed him off, using some of my cut of the money me and Lady earned to cover him. However I soon noticed Dante wasn't helping himself, instead he spent what little he earned on pizza and strawberry sundaes. In the end it wasn't long before he owed ME a lot of money as well.
Suffice it to say, I soon decided to stop working directly with him, instead much like Lady, I tossed a few minor jobs his way in order to speed up the process of getting his money back. Other than that, I completely went solo for a time.
It was this that soon lead me to Lady. As you may remember, back in the Temen-Ni-Gru, me and Lady made quite the team. This lead to us both seeking each other out and forming a partnership in which we split each job and its reward 50/50.
Snapping out of my thoughts I muttered "Okay, let's get this over with." Lady smiled and said "That's the spirit." I shot her a joking glare which made her smile innocently at me and that lead me to chuckle.
We headed towards the very much familiar double doors. As we opened them we strangely enough heard a little girl's voice exclaiming eagerly "Welcome! Come on in!" Neither of us reacted to her comment.
Instead I looked around at the office and tried hard not to laugh. It looked like it had been redesigned by a child, there were several bright pink decorations littering the place which caused Lady to comment. "Seems like your sense of style has improved a lot since we last met, hasn't it Dante?"
I added sarcastically "Indeed, it suits you." We both stepped into the office as the door closed behind us. We walked past the young girl before looking around, Lady pulled one of the curtains back before giving the child a sideways glance.
I looked at her and spoke up "And you, if I'm not mistaken would be Patty Lowell." I had heard rumours about a child who was frequenting Dante's office, but I didn't expect it to be true. Yet, here she was standing in a pink dress.

Patty looked at us both responding "How do you know? Am I famous or a kind of celebrity or something?" Lady stepped forward "The little girl hanging around Devil May Cry has become quite the subject of gossip in this town."
I introduced "My name is Y/N, this is Lady, my 'associate'. I see you've been keeping my big brother busy for the time being." Patty looked at me stunned asking "Brother?" However we were cut off when Dante himself finally spoke.
"But, it's not like you came all this way just to have a look at this brat now is it?" He took a bite of pizza before asking "What are you here for? If it's about some job, thanks but no thanks." Lady glanced at him saying "I see you're cold as always."
Dante answered "Because the only jobs either of you bring me are shit jobs. And they don't pay." Lady shrugged retorting "That's a fine way to talk." I added "Are you aware of how much money you owe both of us INDIVIDUALLY?"
Lady folded her arms saying "We're here today to collect. You're the detective, you should have figured it out." I looked at her in confusion asking "But I thought-." She raised her hand, cutting me off mid-sentence muttering "I'm getting to that."
Dante retorted to this "Oh Lady, I think you and Y/N are the ones who don't get it. I'm so deep in debt I can't even keep track." I stated "I know, I bailed you out for the last few years before finally giving up." Dante shot me a glare before adding "Point is, I couldn't pay either of you back even if I wanted to." He then muttered quietly at the end "Which I don't."
Lady began walking over to a pool table on the other side of the room which I just folded my arms and followed her with my gaze. She then asked "How about a bet? If I get the 8 Ball in, you take the job me and Y/N have got for you unconditionally. Are you game?"
She picked up the cue as I watched intently. Dante sighed and said "You can never do things the simple way can you? It's a deal. And if you miss, you both forgive my debt and pay me 20,000 in cash EACH."
Lady calmly said "Done." I stepped towards the table as she got into position, angling the cue just right so that when she hit the ball, they impacted off one another before finally, the 8 ball landed in the hole.
Both me and Lady grinned as I said "Bingo." Patty exclaimed "That was great!" Dante sighed angrily before grabbing his jacket and saying "Shit, alright, damn it. You should just be a hustler, you'd make more cash don't you think? And I'd get my brother back."
I growled and corrected "I left because of your own incompetence." Lady stated "Just hitting a ball doesn't do it for me, I have a need to annihilate and destroy." Once he had his jacket on Dante turned to give us a sideways glance before asking.
"So, who's the poor son of a bitch this time?" To this Lady and myself both grinned as she responded "Demons." I then added "Of course..."
