The Coal Ball still didn’t come back, and Chen Ming didn’t have the energy to look for it. So he thought to himself, “There’s food and drink here, that little clever thing will definitely come back.” Then he turned to wash up and sleep.

It was the morning of the next day.

He had to take care of the flower shop in the daytime. At night, the White Impermanence would come over and cause trouble now and then. Chen Ming did not have a routine life for many years and his biological clock was a complete mess. He usually rested whenever he could and normally he could fall asleep the moment his head touched the pillow.

But obviously, the so-called “normal” situation did not include being stared at by Zhou Nan.

Chen Ming had the habit of lying on the edge of the bed and leaving a large space empty.

Zhou Nan was somehow possessed. He always found the empty space weirdly attractive ,so he floated over there silently and just like Chen Ming, he slept on his side but faced Chen Ming.

This scene was exactly the same as the night when Chen Ming was sleepless. History was always repeating itself.

However, Zhou Nan was unaware of what he did. He kept staring at the back of Chen MIng’s head since he didn’t need to sleep.

Being stared at for almost two minutes, Chen Ming suddenly opened his eyes and was helpless.

‘Again, you little prick? Are you trying to torture me?’

He still didn’t turn around. Staring at the edge of the rusty old table, he somehow thought to himself that he should fix it someday.

‘Ah, the same color may not be easy to find, so it’s better to paint the whole thing. What color is good … brown, black, white?’

The sudden sigh behind him interrupted Chen Ming’s thoughts. He shook his toes for he was a bit surprised, but it was not noticed by Zhou Nan.

“Chen Ming … We’ve only known each other for a month, right?” Zhou Nan’s voice was so low that it could barely be heard in the quiet night, “What a dream. To be honest, you are the best person I’ve ever met in my life.”

Chen Ming knew that Zhou Nan thought he was still sleeping, so in order to hear more of Zhou Nan’s deepest feelings, he chose to pretend he was. After all, it was not difficult to pretend to sleep until dawn.

He wanna see how Zhou Nan would compliment him and he could just enjoy the praises.

What he didn’t expect was that the man had suddenly changed his tone, “You’re stingy, mean, you’re not warm at all…” With anger, the corner of Chen Ming’s mouth was twitching.

He tried to restrain his urge to turn around and give Zhou Nan a punch in the face. He held back that urge and continued to listen.

“But you’re very kind. It somehow makes me li… li…”

Like?

“Chen Ming, are you awake?”

Chen Ming’s breath paused for a moment, and he couldn’t help goggling. He used every bit of his strength to hold back the “f**k” he was going to say. At one point he thought he was already seen through, but he hesitated for a moment before turning and confessing-he had a hunch that Zhou Nan was tricking him.

It was sleeping time, but now they were having a psychological war. Chen Ming kept roaring in his heart and forced himself to keep breathing evenly.

His guess was correct. Zhou Nan was trying to confirm if he was awake indeed. Seeing that he didn’t move, Zhou Nan continued, “I might like you a little.”

Chen Ming was stunned.

It shouldn’t be like that. He was secretly reassuring himself, but he didn’t expect the next sentence of Zhou Nan shattered his conjecture.

“I think it’s not just the love between friends. You know, I’m gay.”

In Chen Ming’s heart, 100,000 horses bumped against each other, and a big flag was waving in the sky, which said “shocked”! This straight man just had the biggest shock in his life.

He was more determined that he had to pretend to be asleep and to pretend that he didn’t hear anything, so that he didn’t have to say anything. In that way, he could persuade himself by saying it was all a dream and forget about it the next day.

‘Yeah, that’s it, perfect.’  Chen Ming was complacent about his wit.

“That’s right. I’ve said before that I had someone I liked and asked if I should just tell him my feeling. You definitely wouldn’t expect that person to be you.” Zhou Nan was getting a bit emotional, and his voice was trembling, “You said I should just go for it, but I… I’m only bold enough to say it like this, only when you fall asleep. Now I kind of wish you were awake and could tell me what you think, even if the answer could put me in despair.”

Chen Ming subconsciously held his breath. His hand in front of him was clenched unconsciously, and his palms were sweating.

“Chen Ming. Are you awake?” Zhou Nan’s voice was much louder, as if to wake him up.

‘Should I continue to pretend to be asleep or should I pretend to be woken up by him as he wished?’ Chen Ming hesitated again. But it was the moment of hesitation that made the second choice sound deliberate. He then had no other choice but to grit his teeth and hold on.

Now that Zhou Nan’s words had made him agitated, it was extra difficult for him to remain calm. Chen Ming vaguely felt that sooner or later he would be seen through.

Then he would need to figure out how to reply.

He was afraid that they could not even be brothers anymore if he refused Zhou Nan.

But if… not…

For the first time in more than 20 years of his life, he questioned whether he was straight or not.

Just as he was thinking about it, a big black shadow suddenly came up from the bottom of the bed and landed straight on Chen Ming’s waist. He felt that it was like a big sandbag, which almost smashed him to death and made him vomit blood.

When he got up and checked, he found out that the “sandbag” was the missing Coal Ball. It was sitting on the side of Chen Ming’s waist, and its front paw was still stepping on his waist as if it was enjoying the moment.

“What the heck? I wish the cause of my death was not being smashed to death by you, oh my.” He seemed to be scolding, but deep down inside he clearly understood that the little guy had helped him out.

Chen Ming reached out and lifted Coal Ball and placed the cat on the floor. By the way, he glanced in the direction of Zhou Nan, and realized that the ghost had already flashed into the old cane chair in no time, and was watching the night scene outside the window.
