I sat as I often did nowadays, in the stupid plastic chair looking out of the barred window hearing people hurrying back and forth to the various other rooms here. I was thinking locked in my mind as I often was, when the door was pushed open more so than it already was and a nurse stood there.

"Y/n your mums on her way honey" she smiled

I nodded and she quickly left, I had packed up already anyway. I couldn't escape the thoughts of what I had missed since I was gone. Locked away in this nut house for so long. The world may have completely changed outside these walls and I'd have no idea. I did a final check of my room making sure I had everything I needed and I locked up my suitcases.

I wheeled them through to the office having them do various paperwork before the door opened my mother

"Hello darling"

"Hi"

"Come on then let's get you back home" she smiled she loaded my stuff in the car and I just sat in the passenger seat already feeling numb to this whole endeavour as we drove off "Now, I know things are going to be strange. it's going to be an adjustment for you, but I want you to know I'm here for you, and every week we'll have a tea and a sitdown talk about how you're doing so we don't get any big problems to build up okay. and we'll take things slow you've been gone a while don't want to throw you back in the deep end"

"Thanks" I nodded

"but don't just lock yourself in your room. I was told about that" she says and soon enough we pulled up at home instantly I felt this wave of pain, I didn't want to be here, I didn't want to be reminded of it all. the house looked exactly as it did when I left even the same bucket on the porch and a tattered rose bush on the side. I didn't even want to leave the car as my mother began unpacking everything into the house I held my breath and claimed out of the car shutting the door. I jumped as I heard the sound of a familiar engine as I noticed a motorbike turn into the road and pull onto next door's driveway, I had been gone so long but I remembered everything.

His little blue bike, his dark grey boots, his tattered old jeans, his old orange shirt with I think a logo for something on I have no idea, his white moto jacket over him, a black motorbike helmet over him. He turned the bike off putting it on its stand and slowly pulling off his helmet and it was like one of those cheezy romcoms where everything moves in slow motion and these sweet music playing and it's like the sun radiated down and glitter everywhere as he pulled off his helmet and fixed his mess of blonde hair but the reality was I was stood by a car staring at my neighbour on a cold grey day as he pulled his helmet off and attempted to fix his subsequent helmet hair. He glanced at me and he smiled widely jumping off his bike "Y/n! hey" he smiled jumping my fence to give me a hug

"Hey newt" I smiled a little in shock

"I didn't know you were back yet" He smiled "when did you get back?" he asks pulling away a little enough to see my face but not to have me leave his arms

"Today, not even been in yet"

"Ohh, good I didn't miss you coming home then" he smiled "It's so good to see you, I really missed you" he says pulling me tight into his chest like he always used to

"Yeah, I missed you too" I smiled giving him a squeeze and inhaling his sweet motoroil, tea and cheap body spray scent, strange I had been gone so long and yet he smelt the same

"How was it?" he asks as we both moed away out each others arms

"What?" I asked

"How was Australia? Your mum said where you were you didn't have internet or phone signal I left you some messages just in case you got a chance to see them but... I guess you were really busy"

"Yeah really busy with uhh everything"

"Well, I'm happy your back, Maybe once you get settled we can go down over we can sit in the garden and chat like old times and catch up"

"Yeah that sounds nice" I nodded before hurrying inside putting my bag on the side as my mum made some tea "Australia?"

"well what did you want me to say?" she asks

"Not Australia"

"You told me not to tell anyone where you were. what was I supposed to do when people came asking where you were"

"So I was In Australia?"

"Yes."

"doing what?"

"Helping with ingured and orphaned animals"

"Okay" I sighed rolling my eyes

"well I couldn't exactly tell them you where in the hospital because then people would wanna see you and you know you couldn't have visitors and they'd want updates this was just easier" she explained

"Fine" I sighed

"Newts a sweet boy I wasn't going to tell him you where in a mental hospital"

"I know!" I yelled "Its fine. I'll be in my room" I sighed

"Don't shut your door"

"I know" I sighed taking my bag upstairs the moment I stepped foot in my room I felt a wave of pain again, the stains on the carpet now that would never be removed, almost everything just as I left it I sat on my bed and unpacked my suitcases, it felt so strange like nothing had changed I'd been gone just over a year and it was like I had been gone for a weekend, the house the same, my room the same, But I did my best to not fall back to being the same as I was when I left this place.
