The Maze Runner Imagines: Newt (Thomas Brodie Sangster) Book 2

Wake Up!

I sat on the rocks looking out to the ocean as the waves crash upon the bright beautiful sand thinking back to everyone we had lost on our way to this beautiful paradise, 

"Thomas! Your gonna wanna see this!" I heard Minho yell at the top of his lungs I jumped up trying my best running though the sand past the gardens, past the bonfire, past the hammocks till I reached the edge of paradise before it headed off to the woods and mountains a storm cloud darker then I had ever seen one before "What the hell is that?" he asked

"I have no idea," I said "It looks like an electrical storm" 

"I've never seen a storm like that before Thomas,"  he says 

"get everyone inside," I told him 

but before anyone could move lightning struck a tree 

leaving a massive hole in the ground 

"What the hell!" Gally yelled as he went over to the still-smoking hole 

"TOMMY!!"

"Did you hear that?" I asked

"Hear what?" Minho asked

"Guys! there's something under here!" Gally yelled

"TOMMY!! WAKE UP!" 

"Ok, what the fuck! I swear to god I can-" I began

"fuck I just-" Minho began 

"Did you hear it too?" I asked

"Yeah, I swear I-"

"what the fuck!" Gally yelled as he had been digging in the whole the lightning made revealing metal it looked like a metal door... like the metal door we had used to leave the maze into the laps

"TOMMY!!! YOU HAVE TO WAKE UP!" 

"There it is again! I could have sworn I heard-"

Before I could finish my sentence the door opened with a thick grey smoke,  and someone climbed out, a body skinny and lanky, they walked with a limp, a mess of long and fluffy blonde hair a brown fabric around his head, an orange vest torn and ripped covered in blood and mud, his pants ripped and tattered, a large gun in his hand the second he stood there we all recognized him

"Newt..." I asked 

"'ey guys" He smiled

"wha- wha- you're dead..." I said in shock trying to wrap my head around this 

"Its a long story, and look I don't have time to explain," he says "And... I'm sorry" he says pointing his gun at gally

"Newt! what the hell... let's just calm down." Minho warned him but before anyone could say anything else he shot gally, And Minho seconds later 

"NEWT WHAT THE HELL!" I screamed 

"I'm sorry Tommy," he says pointing the gun to my head and pulling the trigger

I suddenly woke up in a dark room I was tried down to a table, alarms going off everywhere. I tried desperately to get up from the table 

"Help!" I yell 

"Thomas is that you!" I heard Minho yell

"yes! yes, Minho it's me!" I yelled, 

"what the hell is going on!" I heard gally yell

I felt my restraints loosen and someone pulled me up and I was faced by another familiar person, in loose-fitting  clothes 

"Hi Thomas... welcome back" 

"Winston?" I asked

"Hey man" He laughs 

"Where's newt?" I asked

"He's getting everyone out," he says "Come on we need to get you guys out of here"

I sat on the ledge looking out at this... rebuilt world. towers that had fallen rebuild from what had fallen all of it looking like a steampunk reimagining of a world I barely even remember. 

"'ey Tommy," the familiar voice said behind me 

"Hi newt" I smiled "Can I start getting some kind of explanation now?" I asked 

"Yeah..." he sighed sitting with me "I know this is kinda 'ard for you... I know mate it was 'ard for me too" 

"You bet it was fucking hard!" I yelled "Newt... I believed I killed you, I had to get over that I had to live with knowing I had killed you" 

"yeah you did... I don't 'old you killing me against you Tommy"

"What the fuck happened?" I asked

"When I died... I woke up." He answered

"Woke up?"

"I woke up in that little room just like you did, But I 'ad wicked stood over me... they asked me questions I didn't 'ave the foggiest Idea where I was out what was going on" He explained "and I found out... everything we 'ad been through, the maze, the scorch, the Virus... it was all just a simulation"

"A simulation?"

"A simulation, a dream, a video game" he answered "when we died we lost... and we woke up" 

"So all this time we were bottled up in some computer game?"

"as soon as I was thinking straight they threw me in a cage with everyone else, Ben, George, Alby... even little Chucky. they were going to restart and try it all again with us but we escaped, began a real-life"

"In all the time we were gone this... place this world grew around us?"

"No, we built it, we overthrew wicked build ourselves a new world. it's not much but... it's 'ome" he explained "We 'ad been trying so long to get you guys out, but the only way to get you out without frying your brains was to kill you" He explained "so I went in and got you all out" 

"Newt... I hate to tell you but, it's been years. we all thought you were dead, I... I uhh I kinda moved on" I explained 

"I know Tommy" he laughs 

"I'm happy to see you again" I smiled 

"I'm 'appy to see you too Tommy" he smiled I sat looking at him a moment he looked like he had been thought a lot but under all of it he was still my newt and going to kiss him but he stopped me "Tommy..."

"what's wrong, Look Minho will understand now your back... I mean he has Ben back so" I shrug 

"Tommy, Its been years, not just for you." He says "Tommy things were slower for you inside the simulation," he says "It's been years for me out 'ere, we've built this whole world I've grown up."

"what are you talking about?" I asked

"I'm married, I 'ave a daughter," He says "Tommy, its been five years for you, it's been ten for me" 

"Then... I guess we'll just stay friends then" I sighed

"Tommy. I still love you, I've just had a long time without you and my life has moved on" he says 

"I still love you too newt," I smiled giving his cheek a little kiss "Guess  should get used to this new world"

"Yeah, It's alright if you want I'll show you around tomorrow"  

"Newt?" a voice calls making him turn around seeing a girl with a little toddler in her arms 

"Ohh coming love" He smiled "see you tomorrow Tommy" 

"see you newt" I smiled watching him as he got up and went over to the girl taking her little toddler from her giving the baby's head a little kiss and giving the girl a kiss too and heading inside with her 

"Hey Thomas" Minho smiled as he leant on the ledge 

"Hey, let's go find our room" I smiled to him
