Aspen's POV:

I got to know the woman who gave me birth. I received affection from the one who was my light. the same person who left me behind.

I found my soul mate. He was meant to resemble the tales my mother had told me. a knight in dazzling armor. But he made the choice to stay with someone else.

My closest friends are in a committed relationship with their partners. Even if they don't need me any longer, that makes me pleased.

The wolfsbane,along with the other toxins were indeed eating away at my energy,I've been weak before but now I'm at my weakest. The salty water and stale bread are intolerable to me. I've been so badly hurt that my body has given up trying to repair itself; I might as well be half dead. You could see my ribs and count them since I have lost so much weight.

Since that day, I haven't seen Derek. Mom makes an effort to catch up, but I'm too exhausted to even say half a sentence. I'm praying Blyke and Natalie are ok even though I'm not sure if they were caught with me.

My skin was burning horribly, making me scream and scratch myself in an attempt to relieve the pain, but to no avail. Then, the sounds of celebration suddenly stopped and my heart felt as though it were being torn apart from the inside of the dungeon.

the hurt.

the applause.

my head was throbbing.

My heart was torn apart.

The entire world stopped.

Then a guard entered, unfastened the wrist and ankle cuffs, and walked to the adjacent cell to repeat the process until the rouge was free to leave.

The pain that seared through my body just from opening my mouth felt like my vocal cords were being torn out. My voice was hoarse from not speaking for more than a week. Even though I was angry that she had abandoned me—she is my mom—I crawled to my mother's cell and found her lying there nearly lifeless. My world had been crushed.

I gently shook her body as tears streamed down my face.

"Mom!!" I yelled.

Nothing

"Mom!!" I yelled.

Nothing

"Oh my God, Lara! Would you please get up?" I yelled.

I thought it was her groan when I heard it.

"Mom?" I sneezed.

She hurriedly coughed, "as-aspen."

I said, my voice breaking, "I'm here."

She extended her hand to take my hand, and when she did, she squeezed it to make sure I was real.

I was really here now

Get up!! "A voice yelled.

Bodies littered each open cell, and I saw Blyke and Natalie and locked eyes with them as they limped towards me. I wheezed as I tried to make mom's weight on my already frail body bearable to walk.

"Thank God, Aspen, you're okay"Blyke exclaimed.

"Alright! Let's move on! "The exact same voice yelled

I nearly let go of mom when the soldier pushed us and I growled at him as the rougues limped towards the entrance, hissing at the light of the sun, and that guard would drive us forward if we were trailing behind.

Once we crossed the forest line and arrived at an open field, everyone turned to look at us with disgust, and they cleared a road for us until we arrived at a podium.

Everyone turned to look when a person entered the podium.

He gestures for someone to get up and says, "Members of Blood Moon pack and subjectsof the Royal kingdom,we here convened to do something about these filthy rougues that stand in front of you and also to make an announcement.

I froze when I saw who it was.

Hayden. With Brooklyn.

'Hayden Anderson and Brooklyn Morgan are your new Alpha and Luna,' he continued.

I kept telling myself it was a lie or a dream, but I could see his mark on her and her mark on him, and their scents blended. They mated.

He stared at the cowrd with emotionless, cold eyes until he noticed me. His eyes briefly contained sadness and regret before they quickly disappeared as he moved forward.

"I,Hayden Alexander Dominic Anderson,reject you Aspen Carson as my mate and Luna " He said coldly

The smirk on Brooklyn's face irritated me, but I was powerless to stop a searing pain that tore through my body. I screamed aloud, tears streaming down my cheeks, and I fell to the ground alongside my mother, who was massaging soothing circles on my back.

"Sorry, my sweet angel. Just the bond breaking "Mom mumbles

I can hear Myra whimpering in the back of my head.

I make an effort to right myself with the assistance of my mother and Blyke, supporting my weight as best I can.

"Before my men kill you, you have 10 minutes to leave my territory" Hayden warns.

We all moved, some more difficult than others, but we all made it. and took off like there was no tomorrow because if you got caught, there might not be.
