Maya

" Lina, You know your brother better than me." I was talking to Lina over the phone while folding my clothes.

" Of course. But lately, it feels like you both are not hating each other as such." My senses triggered at that and I couldn't help but think twice before replying to it.

" Nothing like that. We are just trying to get along better. But I am sure it is not gonna happen soon."

" We will see. Okay, didi. I will hang up now. Projects and assignments are never going to leave me. So awful." She lets out a frustrated sigh, complaining about her 'awful' life.

" Don't worry too much. Take regular breaks from studying and eat well. And if your brother bothers you, just tell me. I will teach him a nice lesson. Okay, bye. Goodnight." After hanging up the call, I turned around to see Ayushi just in front of me, piercing through my face.

" Gosh, Why are you looking at me like that?"

She jumped up on the bed with Cookie who was playing with her a while ago. It's been a few days now that I had been bringing Cookie home to play with her. She is so cute that I couldn't help but pat and rub her back every time I see her.

" Don't you think you are forgetting something?" Ayushi asked, narrowing her eyes at me. What is she talking about?

When I give her a querying glance, she turns to Cookie. " Cookie, do you know this girl has a poor brain? You know you shouldn't play with such girls. You know, right?"

With her bark and wagging her tail, Ayushi looked at me and said," See, she is such a good girl unlike someone here."

She glared at me.

" Will you tell me what is wrong?"

" I need to ask that to you. What is happening with you and Ajay? And what about Ishaan? And what had happened that day? It's already been twelve days. Come on, tell me now."

I sighed at her. She has been on this from that very day. Avoiding her continuous questions resulted in nothing in the end. Realizing I have no way out of it, I tell her everything.

"... I can't even contact Ishaan. I talked to Sarah but she is clueless too. He left his farmhouse before Sarah reached there. I am worried now." I looked down, sighing deeply. It's been twelve long days but we still had no clue about him even though Ajay and Sarah have told me that he must've gone for a holiday break and that is nothing new to them. But it still makes me concerned.

" That means you and Ajay stayed the night together?" My eyes went wide at her sudden comment. Looks like she just heard that part and missed all the other segments of the story.

" Stop it Ayushi." I threw a pillow at her which she easily dodged with her defence technique.

" Hey, that is interesting. Tell me MORE! " She shouted and stressed the word 'more', making me flinch.

" What the hell? You just skipped the whole 'Ishaan' part. That is more important."

" Is it? I thought it was just an advertisement between the scenes so I skipped that part," she muttered while making her puppy pout which Cookie was trying to mimic.

" That is the most important one—" I was about to talk sense into her dummy head when I was cut short by a call. The name 'Lunatic' flashed upon the screen.

Of course, it was that handsome and crazy idiot— Ajay.

" Maya, are you free… right now?" He asked from the other end.

" Yeah, why?"

" Oh, just like that. Well, I mean, not just like that. It's because…" He paused hesitantly and I heard him mutter something under his breath. It was strange how he was stuttering with his words and trying to get the right way to deliver them.
