In which you move on

Listen to: hope ur ok - Olivia Rodrigo

You had a warm smile on your face. You stared into the eyes of the girl who mended your heart. The person who was there for you. She had her arms around your waist, yours around her neck.

The two of you danced together.

The music was light, and sweet. You enjoyed your time with her. She's your best friend, and you loved her.

The two of you giggled throughout the night, whispering to each other, just the two of you.

It felt like just you and her in the world.

You were so happy.

But Jenna was not.

No, she wasn't the girl you were dancing with.

She's the girl who broke your heart.

Jenna shattered your heart into pieces.

She was so bitter, she watched you and your new girl dance. She felt her stomach churn, the jealousy was so hard to handle.

She stared at the two of you, hoping that you would even spare a glance at her.

But you didn't. Your eyes were set on your new girl and her only.

After a while, it was hard for Jenna to take it. She couldn't stop the tears. She muffled her sobs, running to the bathroom.

That's where she hid for most of the dance, unable to bear the feeling of seeing her replaced.

Out of the corner of your eye, you had seen a girl run off, you were concerned.

"Did you see that girl run off?" You whispered to your girlfriend.

She hummed. "Yeah, I wonder what made her cry." You went a little quiet, pondering if you should check on that girl, not knowing it was your ex. "You can check on her if you want, I'm getting a little tired."

"Are you sure? I don't wanna ditch you." You asked, still dancing with her. She smiled at you, she loved how much you cared about others.

"I'll be fine, I'm sure that girl may need some emotional support." You smiled at her and nodded. You pecked her on the lips, saying a quick goodbye before running off to the bathroom.

You heard sobs coming from a stall. You slowly approached it "Hey, are you okay? I saw you run off, I just wanted to check in on you." Jenna let out a quiet curse from her stall.

"Yeah." She whispered out, not wanting you to recognize her voice.

"Do you mind sharing what happened? I'll be here to listen."

"No, I don't wanna ruin your night."

"Nah, it's alright, I needed a break from dancing." You sat yourself onto the sink. "You don't have to tell me, I just wanna help you somehow."

Jenna smiled, this was the y/n she loves. "I just- there's this guy." She lied. "We dated like a while ago, and I like- I treated him really bad. I regret it so much, and I still love him. But he's moved on with another girl. It's just- I heard that he had a new girl-"

"But the reality never hit you until today?" You finished the sentence, knowing how she felt.

"Yeah." She sniffled. "It's my fault, for the break up, I wanted her to move on, I knew we weren't right for each other. I just love he-him still." Jenna kept on rambling and rambling about it, slowly going back to her regular voice. You listened, recognizing that it was your ex.

You gave your small opinions, advice. You felt bad, but you didn't love Jenna anymore.

At least, you weren't in love with her.

Your phone buzzed, it was your girlfriend. She was asking you if you wanted to leave soon. It was getting hard to handle the conversation.

"I'm so sorry, but I have to get going." You muttered, getting off the sink.

"Thanks for listening to me."

"Of course, anytime and any day." You left the bathroom, sending a quick text to your girlfriend.

While on the ride home, you opened Jenna's contact.

You
I'm glad you got your shit off your chest, Jen, I'm still here for you.
