(another death imagine lol)

In which you leave her to dance on her own

Listen to: this is me trying - Taylor Swift

It had been around 3 years after your death. Jenna was still grieving. She usually just kept to herself and her apartment. She usually drank until she'd forget about you, and then cry about forgetting you and drinking even more.

The two of you were engaged when you died. Living together happily. Well, to her, at least. Closer to the date of your death, you had learned that you had a rare type of cancer, meaning that you don't have much time left. You kept it hidden from Jenna, wanting to make the most of your time together, and not wanting the thought of your time ticking away to ruin anything with her.

If you were still alive, you would admit that you were in the wrong for what you did, but what's done is done.

When you died, it was a shock to Jenna, she was hurt that you didn't tell her. She was mad at herself for not noticing any earlier. Thinking back on it, she noticed how you wanted to spend a lot more time with her, telling her not to worry about the future.

She hated how you made it seem like it wasn't that big of a deal, how even on your death bed, you joked. She hated how tried reassuring her that it was going to be okay, but she knew that it wasn't only her that you were reassuring.

Since you've died, you've watched over her, watching all the days that she'd cry and drink. You wanted nothing more than being there to comfort her.

Here you were, watching her drink in your old shared apartment. This was kind of her monthly thing now, which isn't as bad as before when it was daily. But you understood why she was drinking more, you had realized that it was almost your birthday.

Well, today is. So, she's drinking away her worries.

You only wished that she stayed careful, watching her as she cried, playing the record of the song that the two of you loved. Your eyes stayed on her and her swaying around. She pretended as if the two of you were dancing together again.

You missed the feeling of the two of you together again, the feeling of having her in your arms once more. You shut your eyes, reminiscing, not wanting to see this side of Jenna,

There was a bang and a thud. Your eyes snapped open, you looked around, looking for Jenna. You got up, seeing her on the ground, you ran around the table. You saw her head bleeding, there was a soft smile on her face. Your (literal) dead heart felt like it was racing. You tried to hold her face, but your hands went through her.

Fuck, you were dead.

Somehow, you cried, not wanting this to be the way Jenna would go. She had so much more to live for.

Before her last breath, you heard her whisper your name.

"See you soon, my love."
