In which you work a case

aged up! you're 29, jenna's 27

You and Jenna were good friends, but you barely saw each other, so you were more so acquaintances. She met you while you were still going through your schooling, you were helping with some event with her younger siblings' high school event.

"Finally done with the boxes." You mumbled, jumping onto the stage to sit.

"Those are a lot of boxes." You turned to see a woman sitting down beside you. She looked familiar, but you couldn't point out why. "Do you go here?"

You shook your head, leaning onto your hands to keep your balance. "My uncle works here. I've just been helping out at their events," You explained, pointing to your uncle, who was talking to some other event helpers. "He usually asks me to come by to help out with the dances." You paused. "You don't go here, right?"

She let out a soft laugh, igniting a small flame in your stomach. "No, I'm just waiting for my siblings. They're taking their time." You laughed as well.

The laughter died down and you were able to decipher why she looked familiar. "You know, you look familiar." You pointed out, she paused for a second, looking at you with a confused expression. "You're Markus and Aliyah's sister, right?" She let out a quiet sigh of relief and nodded. "That makes sense, you guys look so much alike."

"Yeah..." She trailed, before clearing her throat. "So, if you don't go here, do you have a job or do you just hang around 'till they have dances to hang around with them?" You let out another laugh, she was funny, you liked her.

"Nah, I didn't peak in high school." You waved off. "I go to university."

"Where?"

"NYU." She looked at you confused, because you guys were not, in fact, in New York right now. "I'm here visiting my family."

"Wow, fancy." She joked. "What are you taking?"

"Arts and Humanities and Economics." You smiled. "What about you? You doing university?" She shook her head, you cocked your head to the side, curious as to what she does. "What are you then?"

She looked away, a little embarrassed before looking at you again. "I'm an actor." She made a small face. She didn't really want you to know, it was nice talking to someone that didn't know about her fame.

"That's so cool!" You were genuinely intrigued. "How's that going for you?" You had absolutely no clue who she was, nor have seen her in anything.

She shrugged. "It's going." You chuckled, looking out.

"That's good. They're treating you well?" She nodded, not really knowing what to say. "Cool. You like to read?" The two of you fell into another conversation, talking about different books. She genuinely enjoyed your company, even making her siblings wait a little because the two of you were so caught up with talking to each other.

Since then, she would come to the school and help out with you. It was a little tradition. Up until her siblings graduated. It was the only time the two of you hung out, and you both had a great time. She would tell her siblings all about you, which sparked interest from her siblings.

"You know, you talk about her all the time despite only seeing her once a year," Aliyah pointed out, making Jenna look at her in confusion. "Do you like her or something?"
