In which you're better for her

Listen to: You Belong With Me - Taylor Swift

The perfect pair by Beabadoobee played through your headphones while you walked home. You quietly hummed along to the words, the words reminding you about your best friend. You couldn't help but relate to the lyrics, you were hopelessly in love with your best friend.

You've known her for so long, the two of you were neighbors since you were little kids. You had windows facing each other. Call it corny, but it took you years to convince her to communicate with you through writing on big paper to each other like Taylor Swift's music video. She liked to show herself as tough, but she'd always soften up around you.

You hoped that the only reason why she's soft around you was that she liked you back, but you doubted it. You two knew each other like the back of your hands.

You've had your fair share of girlfriends, along with her, but most of those relationships ended with your uninterest with them. Being in love with her made it really hard for you to have a lasting relationship with people. You never told her the real reason why you always ended relationships, so she would just assume it's difficult for you to commit, and she understood.

"Hey!" You felt your shoulder get shoved, you let out a yelp and jumped to the side. You took out your headphones, letting them rest around your neck. "You left me behind." She pouted.

"You fucking scared me!" You had a hand to your chest before you resumed walking beside her. "You were busy talking to JP, I need to get home so I can make practice."

She laughed at you. "Yeah, so you take your sweet ass time walking home." You rolled your eyes at her.

"At least I have a car." You shrugged cockily.

"Yeah, instead of driving us to and from school, you decide to walk." She huffed, trying to keep up with you.

You nudged her with your side. "Don't even, the school isn't even a ten minute walk, our houses are right there." You pointed towards your houses. "You need to exercise more anyways." She scoffed at you, hitting your shoulder.

It fell quiet between you guys, you admired the growing flowers from the different neighbors, while she was (unknowingly to you) admiring you. She felt a pang when she remembered. "So..."

You turned to her once more, eyebrow raised. "What did you do?" You let out a small laugh when she shoved you lightly. "I know you did something, you always say that when you did something."

"Yeah well, I'm not going to tell you." She crossed her arms, you just rolled your eyes at the girl. It wasn't like you didn't know, you knew what she was going to tell you. She started dating another girl. Another. Girl.

You'd heard from the grapevine, you couldn't believe her sometimes. Like I said, you knew her like the back of your hand, you knew what she would do, what'd she say. "You're gonna end up telling me eventually. You can't handle keeping a secret from me."

"Nah, not this time." You tried not to let out a sigh in relief. You knew you were in denial, you didn't want her to tell you. You didn't want to hear the same words you constantly heard from her.

"Alright." You turned towards your house. "I'm gonna head in." You pointed to her, she stuck by your side, wanting to walk you in. "You're still following me."

"I wanna walk my best friend in, am I not allowed to do that?" You raised your eyebrow before letting out a breathy laugh.

"Alright, Camila." You unlocked your door. "Besides, there's no point in telling me when I already know what you did." You winked at her, closing the door behind you before she could stop you. You could hear her knocking on the door and asking you to open it.
