In which the intricate plan leads to you

"I'm sorry, I just don't think it's gonna work out." Jenna smiled awkwardly, going to push herself out.

"Wait," He stopped her from leaving, sighing as he was about to tell her the truth. "Look, Emma did this on purpose."

She furrowed her eyebrows at him, sitting back down slowly. "What do you mean Emma did this? What did she do?" He cleared his throat, preparing himself for this awkward conversation.

"Well, other than the fact that, naturally, I don't think we would work out." She scoffed at him. "Emma knew that it wouldn't work between you and I, because it wasn't me she wanted to set you up with in the first place." She crossed her arms, still a little confused.

"Then why didn't she set me up with them in the first place?" He pointed at her, as if she got him. He placed some money down to pay the bill before getting up and holding out his arm for her to take. She hesitated but gave in. It stayed quiet as he lead her to his car, opening the door for her like the gentlemen he was. "Where are we going?"

"My house," He answered. He noticed that she was about to say something, so he cut her off before she could continue. "Before you call the police, this is all apart of Emma's little plan. She wanted me to take you home so that you could meet someone."

"That doesn't answer my question, why set me up with you and have a, no offense, absolutely terrible date instead of setting me up with this person that she wanted me to meet."  Jenna reminded herself to get mad at Emma once she gets home.

He laughed. "I asked that too, because I was a little confused. I'm pretty sure she said something about you not talking to her? I don't think she thought it through, but the effort was there!" He pulled into the driveway, helping Jenna get into the house.

"'Sup Dickwad! How was the date?" A voice yelled from another room. He just glanced to her, playfully rolling his eyes. You turned around, wanting to see what he decided to wear. Your eyes flicked between him and a girl beside him. "Oh shit, you brought her home." You got up and jumped over the back of the couch to introduce myself. And my god she was beautiful. "I'm Y/n, his roommate and best friend." You held out your hand for her to shake. She grasped yours with hesitation. Something about her felt so familiar, you just couldn't put your finger on it.

"Well, y/n, I'll be back in a few, take care of her for me?" He looked at you, hope in his eyes. Your jaw slacked. He was leaving his (most likely) amazing and perfect date at home with her? Alone?

You looked down at your clothes, then back to theirs. "Hello? What? You're leaving? Do you not have manners?" You looked to his date. "I'm so sorry that you're dealing with this. He's pretty, but not pretty enough to power through." His smile looked faked at this point, you looked to him once more and patted his cheek.

"I just need to grab something." He lied, looking to the girl. "You can make yourself at home, I'll be right back." He went off, making you groan and apologize to her before running after him.

"Hey! You leave her there with me and there's no guarantee for second date." You warned him, he just smiled at you.

"I know, she's for you."

"What?" You sputtered, starting to flush.

"Don't get mad at me, get mad at Emma and Mikey." He shut the door to his car and went off. You flipped him off, walking back into the house.
