In which she tried to not hurt you, but she already has

There was no doubt in your mind.

You were unequivocally in love with Wednesday Addams. Fallen under her spell like Tyler and Xavier.

But she didn't want you to be. She didn't want you to end up like the boys, heartbroken and bitter. She felt that it was inevitable, that she was going to hurt you. So she pushed you away.

She distanced herself from you, ignoring you more often. She tried her best to stay away from you, as hard as it was.

You were like a magnet, you somehow managed to always pull people in, even the anti-social Wednesday Addams.

It wasn't like you hadn't noticed Wednesday pulling away from you, you had, and it was hurting you. You didn't care if she reciprocated feelings or not, you cared about your friendship.

There was often nights were you would have Enid or Yoko over, crying to them about Wednesday.

As the days went on, you got more numb, used to the ignoring and cold shoulders. You stopped trying to talk to her all the time, you started ignoring her as well. It was killing you inside, but you knew what you had to do.

You knew you had to move on.

You went by, ignoring the concerned looks of your best friends, trying to make it through until the break. People had noticed the tension between you and Wednesday, wondering if you two had fought.

But you didn't, she just started ignoring you and you decided to return the favor.

You were heading to Enid's dorm, you had to get your book back from the girl, she had never read it, and you needed it back for rereading. She had told you to meet her at her dorm, so you did.

You opened the door, seeing Wednesday typing on her typewriter like always. You paused when you saw her turn to you. "Sorry, I just needed my book back from Enid." You mumbled, making a bee line towards the book and back to the door.

"Y/n, wait." She stopped you, making you curse at yourself for doing what she says. You turned on your heels, seeing her stand up and walk up to you. "What's wrong?"

You crossed your arms. "What do you mean?"

"You've been... Acting different." She kept her voice monotone, a slight raise in the eyebrows. You let out a small huff.

"Like ignoring you?" You asked, anger starting to rise in your chest. "Yeah, Wednesday, I've been acting real weird."

You studied her face, seeing a slight confused look on her face. "What?"

"Wednesday, you've been ignoring me, for weeks. If you wanted to stop being friends just say so, no need to start ignoring me without any explanation. Fuck, even Enid didn't know." She took a step back, she could see how you were getting angry.

"I never intended to end our... friendship." She hesitated, making you scoff and roll your eyes.

"Then what were you intending Wednesday? Hmm? What other reason could be why you've been ignoring me." Wednesday winced, your voice was raising, she had never seen you react like this. "Wednesday, I feel like we're at the point where we know I'm in love with you, and if I had known we would end up this way, I would never have let anyone know I'm in love with you, because I value our friendship much more. So please, explain to me." You were on the verge of tears.

"I didn't want you hurt."

"What do you mean?"

"I don't want to hurt you, y/n. I know I will hurt you at some point, and I didn't want that happening." You scoffed, nodding once more, you looked away in disbelief.

She stared at you, her deadpan expression not changing in the slightest. "It's too late, because you already did. Goodnight." You stormed your way to the door, pausing right before you left. You wanted to say something, get another last word, but nothing came to mind.

You hoped that she stopped you, that she would give some big confession, that she would apologize and then you'd kiss and everything was good.

But this was Wednesday we're talking about.

So, you just left, closing the door. Once the door was closed, you burst into tears as you sped to your room.
