You sat there, cross armed and face straight. You're sitting on a couch that was pushed back to make room for a dance floor. "Relax guard dog." Mindy laughed, taking a seat beside you and handing you a cup. "Here."

"What's this?" You took a sip before she could answer, it burned down your throat, making you cough it out. "Holy fuck! What did you put in here?"

Mindy let out a small laugh at your coughing fit. "Well if you let me tell you before chugging it down, it's just some vodka and some lemonade."

You glanced at the cup, sniffing it. "By some do you mean mainly vodka?" Mindy nodded. "Oh fuck you." She laughed and shoved your shoulder.

"Relax, you need it." She looked at the dance floor where Tara and Amber were dancing together. "You keep glaring at those two, you're going to burn their clothes off." She turned back to you with a small smirk. "I mean, I don't think you'd mind though."

Your head snapped to her, before you scoffed and pushed her away. "Fuck off, Mindy." She laughed at you, shoving you as well.

Tara and Amber have been dating for a while, since you told Amber that you had a crush on Tara when you were freshmen. She decided to sweep her off her feet before you could, and you've hated Amber since. You've managed to become Tara's best friend, but that was all (at least you thought) she saw you as.

Eventually, like all things, their honeymoon phase came to a crash. Amber started acting out, partying all the time. Tara would come to you for comfort and advice, you decided to be a good person because it was probably going to bite you in the ass. Slowly, you had to watch Amber become a destructive girlfriend, treating her terribly. You wanted to tell her to break up with Amber, but Amber knew about your feelings. You had only made that offer once, but you never brought it up again.

"I just don't get why they're still together." You complained, voice loud enough to hear over the music but quiet enough that other people wouldn't be able to comprehend. "She treats Tara like shit, and she makes up for her by throwing a party and they get drunk and then they fuck and then things are happy and dandy on the surface."

Mindy raised up her hand. "Woah, that's a little too much info." She moved herself on the couch, so that she could lean on your shoulder. "I think... You should tell Tara the truth."

You shifted your head to look down at her. "What d'you mean?" You glanced back ahead, seeing Tara looking at you. You guys made eye contact while she continued to grind on Amber's front.

"Come on, you might not be as obvious as Wes, but I know you've had a crush on her." You hadn't told Mindy about that, you haven't told anyone. It was a secret that you swore to the grave.

"I- I don't know what you're talking about." You lied, but Mindy just grabbed your arm to bring you away from Tara and Amber's eyesight. "Where are we going?" You didn't see how Tara's eyes followed you, but she continued to dance with her girlfriend. You let Mindy take you towards the upstairs, inside one of the only bedrooms that didn't have someone making out or having sex inside.

She shut the door behind her, laughing when you jumped onto the bed. "Okay, dish." She sat at the bottom of the bed, waiting for you to speak. You raised your head to see Mindy with her hands on her thighs. "I know that you've been best friends with Amber when you were kids, and then suddenly during our freshman year, you switched up on the girl and became besties with Tara."

You pushed yourself up, leaning against the headboard. Your head leant back as you quietly think about it. "Do you know why Amber got with Tara?" You pushed your head back to see Mindy's answers. She scrunched her face as she thought of it, nothing other than Amber probably having feelings for her came to her mind. "God, why do you think I hate Amber?"
