In which she meets your family

You felt the sun peaking through the blinds, making you pull out of your comfortable slumber. You stirred, the familiarity of being in your old room almost made you fall back into old routine. Keyword: almost.

Why? You felt a weight on you, it was warm. You quickly remembered that your girlfriend was laying in bed with you. You stared at her, your bodies intertwined, basking in her scent. You just stayed there, watching as she slept.

Soon enough, you were drowsy again and fell asleep for a bit longer.

The next time you woke up, you were alone in bed. Confused, you got up and checked your phone. There were a few texts from your friends and their thousands of group chats. It was almost noon, and you noticed that your door was cracked open.

You walked down to the kitchen seeing Jenna in the kitchen, cooking with your mom and Alicia. They were laughing about, presumably making fun of you. You sat down on the island, seeing all the food. "Smells great." You complimented, taking a piece. Your girlfriend smacked your hand, but you already had some bacon in your mouth.

"Jenna's a great cook. At least you're being fed." Your mom commented, her back turned to the stove. Your jaw dropped as you faked offense.

"I can cook." You argued, your hand on your chest.

"It took you two extra years to learn how to cook a grilled cheese." Alicia huffed, setting up plates. You rolled your eyes. You looked at Jenna, to help you out, but she just shrugged.

"Whatever." You grumbled, grabbing another piece of bacon. Jenna just kissed the side of your head with a warm smile and continued to cook. You pursed your lips, connecting your Spotify to the speaker.

Later on the day, you and Jenna were exploring the city, going around and finding a gift for your brother's birthday. You could count it as a date. You both visited clothing stores, game stores, and even book stores (your brother had gotten your love for books as well), you managed to pick up a few things, grabbing some stuff for the two of you as well.

The two of you were heading to a liquor store, picking out something to bring to the party. "Are you ready for later? You're going to meet like majority of the family." You asked, showing her a bottle.

She shook her head. "I think I'll be fine, your family is wonderful. I'm sure they'll be fine." She pointed out another bottle, making you shake your head. "I enjoyed cooking with Alicia and Elaine today." She commented, finally getting to a bottle you both agreed on.

"Woah, first name basis with my mother? Already?" You bumped her shoulder, a giddy smile on your face.

"She insisted, she's like crazy good at convincing." You shook your head with a smile. Your mother was just like that. "She really does remind me of you. I see where you get your shit from."

The car ride home was filled with singing and gossip. By the time you got home, you could see the cars filling up the road. "It's time." You looked to your girlfriend, who was looking at the house, visibly nervous. You cupped her cheek, making her look at you. You placed a soft kiss on her lips. "Don't worry about them. You and I can always resort to my room or the park nearby, if ever." She nodded, kissing you again.

You lead her inside, never letting go of her. The two of you went around the party, introducing her to many of you family members and family friends. They had all reacted positively, many of your cousins being starstruck, obviously there were the few aunties and uncles that gave the two of you weird stares, but Jenna seemed unbothered. You let her mingle with your family, while you grabbed a few drinks.

A few of your cousins would come by just to tell you how cool your girlfriend was and how they loved her, making you swell with pride. You poured a mixture of drinks into two cups, one for you and one for Jenna. You went around the people, finding her talking to your aunt. You bumped her shoulder. "Hey, I got you... a drink?"

She furrowed her eyebrows. "What's in it?" You just shrugged. She laughed as you wrapped your arm around her waist.

"How long have you two been together?" Your aunt asked, smiling at you two. "You two are adorable."

"Like a year and a half?" She nodded, confirming your statement.

The three of you just talked, mainly just you and Jenna telling her what you guys have been up to. Sydney called for you.

"Y/n! We're starting it!" You nodded at her, smirking as to what comes next.

"What are they starting?"

"The drinking games!" You said goodbye to your aunt, leading her to the backyard, where a bonfire was set up with a bunch of drinks. There were string lights all around, lighting up your backyard, a projector was set up playing some movie that no one was paying attention too, and a speaker played music. There were people all around, mainly being your cousins and Dylan's friends. You grabbed a chair, it fit two, Jenna was able to lean onto you.

"Let's start with a few round of shots, just to get the birthday boy used to it." You all poured shots, cheering to your brother. You let yourself loosen up, as you took more shots, the harder it was control what you said, which gave room for games.

They were going around, playing never have I ever. "Never have I ever..." Sydney trailed off, looking at you and smirked. "Dated a celebrity." You rolled your eyes, taking a shot.

"Very funny, Syd." You pursed your lips, thinking. "Never have I ever gotten high at school?" You smirked at her, watching her roll her eyes at you while taking a shot.

"Never have I ever hooked up in a public bathroom." You and Jenna went wide-eyed. You coughed awkwardly as you took a shot, Jenna taking one right after you. They all laughed at the two of you, continuing the game.

You guys had fun, it was a great way for Jenna to become more comfortable with your family, and to get to know everyone. Soon enough, the circle just turned into its little groups. The fire was dying out.

Surprisingly, you and Jenna weren't absolutely wasted, and it was getting pretty late. You were talking to your cousin about some drama that had happened at your old high school. She was getting pretty tired, her social battery being drained. She tugged your shirt, grabbing your attention.

"What's up, my love?" You asked, your cousin starting to talk to another person. You noticed how she was getting a little drowsy. "Wanna head to my room?" She nodded. You put your stuff down, saying good bye.

"Where you guys going?" Dylan asked, as you passed by him.

"We're gonna go to bed, it's like late." You explained, Jenna clung onto you like a Koala, something she does when she's tired.

"Dang, y/n, what happened to the party animal?" You rolled your eyes, smacking his shoulder. "Someone's whipped."

You just shook your head at him, smacking the back of his head. "Whatever, man-whore, happy birthday." You gave him a fist bump, before saying a final goodbye to everyone. You went back inside, noticing that there was significantly less people, most being outside. You and Jenna went up back to your room, locking the door.

She immediately pushed you into the bed, laying on top of you. You just chuckled, wrapping your arms around her.

"I take it, you enjoyed meeting my family?" You whispered, keeping her close to you. She merely nodded into you, making you smile.

"I don't even know what you were worried about, most of them were wonderful." She mumbled through your neck. You just kissed her on the forehead, falling asleep pretty quickly.
