In which you're put together for another mission (4)

Listen to: Art Deco - Lana Del Rey

You both sat there, the cuffs unlatching from around your wrists. You sighed. "Let's skip the dramatics and get back into what we were talking about." You rubbed your wrist, a red ring around it from the cuffs. "That night..."

"Isn't this the dramatics?" Jenna huffed, crossing her arms.

"Dramatics would be you running to that door and banging for it to open. We both know our bosses, they want a merger. If we don't solve what we have between us, that merger isn't happening." You knew exactly what was going on. Sure, it wasn't the best execution, but what else could you do?

"Well then be honest with me, what's the real reason why we can't be together?" You shifted in your seat, avoiding her eyes. You were quiet, you didn't know how to answer that question. "God, y/n, rip the fucking band aid off and say you don't like me."

You stayed quiet, hesitating. Just as Jenna laughed in disbelief. "Look, Jenna-"

"You fucking like me!" She let out a little giggle, making you roll your eyes.

"I'm in love with you!" You let out, exasperated. "Is that what you wanted to hear? The reason why I don't want us together is because I don't wanna hurt you." You admitted. You were relieved, but you still felt a weight crushing onto you.

"How are you going to hurt me?" Jenna's voice was low.

You swallowed the lump in your throat. "My work life and love life can't mix. I'm not going to pick between the two." Jenna couldn't believe what you just said.

"What's so wrong with it!" She exclaimed, throwing her hands up. "Y/n, it's not black and white. If we don't work, then we don't work, but why can't we try?"

You sighed, leaning into the chair. "You really want this, don't you?" You teased, breaking into a small smirk.

"I wouldn't be practically begging if I didn't." Jenna was honest, you could hear it in her voice and see it in her eyes.

"Still can't believe you had to force us in a room together." You hummed at your boss, coffee in hand.

He just chuckled, shaking his head. "How else were we going to do it?"

"Maybe you shouldn't trap us with a mission and shove us in a room together until we got along." Sarcasm was laced in your voice as you rolled your eyes.

"It worked, didn't it?" You just sighed, giving in. "Sure, it wasn't the best idea, but it was pretty smart and it worked."

"I just think it's crazy." You walked off to your office, seeing Jenna sitting on it with a smile. "Hey, loser, what's up?"

She grabbed the cup from your hands and took a sip. "I was bored."

"So, you come over to another building?" She just shrugged, making you laugh. "You're a loser."

"We work together now, for real this time. I think it's fair that they let me see my girlfriend after forcing us to get together." She grabbed you by the collar and kissed you passionately.

Someone cleared their throat, causing the two of you to look behind Jenna. It was Florence. "Did not mean to interrupt, but Chris wants to see you, y/n." You nodded, watching as she walked off.

Your eyes moved back to the girl in front of you. "I'll see you tonight?" She smiled, pecking your lips and pushing you away. You left your office to find Florence waiting for you with a smirk. "What's with the face?"

"You and Ortega? What happened during that mission!" She started to pry for more details, but you just shook them off.

"Top secret information." You joked, earning a pinch from the one beside you.
