Chyronex's POV Time: Present

I was meeting three crazy women called Luna Witches. Selene, Geraldine and Juniper.

I was hoping for a room to rent.

I had to respect my prospective landladies – so I keep in a need to giggle at them for calling themselves Luna Witches.

"You must be..." Selene trails off, sitting behind the coffee table and tapping her pen on her knee.

"My name is...um," Chyronex... but no one will understand such a strange name, so I choose another, "Nex. My name is Nex."

"Hmm, and are you interested in blood magic?" Selene asks, raising a slow brow, "We're very serious about this coven business. This isn't a joke. Are you really a witch who works in darkness? We won't take in fakes."

"I have never practiced blood magic, magic that involves sacrifice and take is primarily a sorcerer's practice, it is masculine energy... at least that's what it was like from my town," I choose my words carefully, "I am a Moon Witch. I channel her energy... at night... in the darkness," I add, "My magic wanes in the sun..."

"A moon witch? We aren't making a club to share tarot readings," Geraldine adds, "This is serious."

"We work with blood, Nex," Juniper says more boldly, "...we don't hurt anyone, we just steal blood bags. Okay? So don't freak out or anything – we're good girls, we swear it, heheheh –"

"Relax, Juny, geez," Selene grumbles at her twitching sister, "This is just a basic introduction for our prospective guest, so shh."

"...and you are marked witches of Lucifer?" I ask, taking it very serious.

"We are his three Luna Witches," Selene smiles slow, "Our magic is the devil's magic... we've never heard of moon magic."

"The moon is not light or dark," I explain, "And I only know moon magic. I won't practice what you practice... but I can teach you what I know."

"Yes but this is our coven. You just have to be willing to do it our way. Once you agree and sign, you can't tell anyone what we do... like the stealing blood bags part," Selene says, moving the contract toward me, "Once I give you a room, you have to obey our rules. There's no payment. Just your company is all we need..."

"I've never been very good at obeying anyone or anything," I murmur, carefully inspecting the non-disclosure form.

Selene, Geraldine and Juniper are dressed in matching black dresses, short, low cut, with wild long black hair and... I'll admit – they kind of had crazy-eyes. All three of them had crazy eyes.

"We'll let you in on a little secret," Selene whispers at me, "We've never been very good at obeying rules either."

Juny giggles a little hysterically.

Geraldine agrees with a slow nod and waits for me to sign, clearly anxious for my response.

"I'll sign but I want to make it known," I murmur quietly, "...I mostly needed a place accepting of my witchy ways... that is why I'm here, a coven seemed an appropriate choice," I try to sound edgy, different, in need of freedom.

I think about the world, after I crawled up through the dirt of the caved in catacombs where I had been buried – I crawled out into a graveyard, spitting out soil.

I had wondered about confused, misplaced and terrified by this new world.

Everything was fast and violent. Everything was loud. Especially in the cities.
