Silvia's POV

"My point is simple," Onyx drawls over his full glass of red wine, his hell-eyes mischievous as he stares down Chyronex and the line of her Venatores, one by one, "No need to take offence. But last time I checked, you have two Mystifyers, who are sorcerers who turn into demonic dragons, a Prince of Hell and the Prince of Lust all wrapped up in your precious and loyal centaur, and I am one lowly Lycan," Onyx is amused as he says this, "For your adopted daughter, who's heart is mine, even if you have her soul defended. My point is... Moon Witch," Onyx focuses back on Chyronex as she has a piece of carrot hovering on her fork. We had all been enjoying dinner, jumping right into the awaiting feast cooked by Carmen – and the silence had seemed like an opportunity for Onyx to dictate a few things. I had been eating too, but I've paused halfway through chewing to hear this speech, "What exactly, is your story?" Onyx whispers this, "How did you meet each one of your prized Venatores?"

"Good question, how did Zarcar woo you?" I ask, "You never told us."

And yet they decided to judge our love story so boldly.

Chyronex drops her fork and clenches her fist on the table, looking sideways at Zarcar for help.

Zarcar clears his throat and looks to Lixar, who happily opens his mouth to explain – but Andoll bites first.

"Enslaved," Andoll shrieks with a grin, "She was his war trophy, as I was," Andoll whispers that last part with a blush, "Warlord Zarcar. He trapped her in her tower. She loved every second of being his little goat."

"I was not a goat, you just like goats, do not bring goats into this," Chyronex yells, blushing a bright red and covering her hand with a napkin as she glares at Zarcar behind it. "Well?" I hear her hiss at him, "Say something."

Zarcar sighs and watches Onyx, "Yes, I enslaved her."

"Well," Onyx lifts both his open palms and then grabs my knee with one hand, and his steak knife with another, "That settles that," Onyx winks and smiles at my mother.

"Yes, you know what... he is..." Chyronex looks at me, "Your Lycan is handsome," a poor attempt to change the subject, but still, I don't blame her. Even I feel awkward about it.

Zarcar immediately tenses and now he puts a hand on her knee, and I watch her shut her lips.

"Touche," Lixar raises his wine glass, smoothly intervening, "To pretty little demons."

"Yes," Andoll whispers in excitement, drinking from her wine glass and cracking it in her hand, from grasping the stem too tight.

We all watch the wine spill and the blood spill.

Asmodeus basically appears from absolutely nowhere by her shoulder, in a burst of shadows, leaning down and clasping her cut hand with his.

"Careful," Asmodeus speaks so sweetly, and Andoll practically melts under his gaze, "Only I can make you bleed."

Well...

So much for being romantic.

I had been smiling but now I just roll my eyes and slouch in my chair as I lose my appetite, "Great idea Onyx," I whisper, "Family dinner, where everyone is cursed by hell in some way, except well, me and my mother. We are blessed with the Moon."

"The Moon guides our way," Chyronex nods, "Let's go to the roof."

"Yes, I wouldn't mind some air."

I slip from the chair quickly, as she does, and Onyx grips my thigh a little tight but lets me go eventually as I tug away.
