Shao Ci immediately hid in the nearby cabinet. Fortunately, there were enough items in the castle now for hiding, unlike the emptiness during the previous state of the castle.

Peeking through the cracks, Shao Ci saw a light, noticing two people approaching. The person in the back, holding an oil lamp, seemed like a servant, while the one in front was one of the two people Shao Ci had seen in the room during the day, presumably one of Kevin's brothers.

"Late at night, what are they up to?" Shao Ci felt like he might have stumbled upon something crucial.

"Lord Richard, is this really a good idea?" the servant behind appeared uneasy, "If the master finds out..."

"What is there to fear?" Richard appeared arrogant, indifferent, saying, "It's just a little trick to hasten the day of sacrifice. Even if Father finds out, he'll just scold me at most."

"But doing this..." the servant said, "Isn't it harmful to Master Kevin?"

"He's nothing but a cripple. If it weren't for his use in the sacrifice, he would have been kicked out long ago." Richard sneered, "Such a waste is annoying to look at; might as well get rid of him now."

Shao Ci: "..." Kevin's situation seemed even more tragic. It would make anyone turn dark..

"Hurry up, if we get caught, it'll be troublesome." Richard turned to the servant behind, "Splash this blood on the wall; Father will surely think the gods are angry, and we can quickly resolve the issue with that cripple."

Shao Ci's expression darkened instantly. No matter what, he couldn't let this happen. If the sacrifice happened prematurely, who knew what trouble might arise.

These people clearly don't understand the concept of "playing with fire leads to getting burned"!

Let's teach this guy named Richard a lesson.

Just as Shao Ci was about to exert psychic pressure, he suddenly recalled something from a previous scenario. Considering that psychic power could transform into various shapes based on the owner's thoughts, there should be multiple ways to attack as well...

Like illusions, for instance?

Shao Ci's eyes brightened. If he could use psychic power to control the opponent's mind and create illusions, wouldn't that be akin to using illusions?

Of course, this move wouldn't work against someone with powerful psychic abilities, but the current Richard was just a cannon fodder NPC – perfect for practice.

Shao Ci closed his eyes and enveloped the two people in front of him with his psychic power.

...

...

Richard briskly walked toward the hall, thrilled at the thought of soon eliminating that cripple.

As for why Richard wanted to eliminate his own brother, he wasn't entirely sure. Being born as the favored one, he saw no issue with getting rid of someone he found disagreeable.

Regarding matters of gods, Richard didn't believe in them at all. He merely observed his father and others being fervent about it but never expressed his thoughts.

While walking, Richard suddenly found the surroundings unclear, and the light behind him dimmed significantly. Irritated, he scolded, "You useless fool, can't even hold a lamp?"

There was no response from behind. Richard felt something was off, turned around, and upon seeing the scene before him, his body instantly stiffened.

There was no one behind him, only the oil lamp floating mid-air. The flame, under his gaze, turned a ghastly white.
