My state was Republican in the 60's, but that was when I began to realize the two party world of politics

Democrats seemed more benevolent, so I kinda leaned that way

Our largest newspaper always used initials like JFK and LBJ when headlines reported about Democrats

Nixon, Goldwater, Dole, Republican names were always spelled out fully

I thought it really openly told the tale of slant and slight of the media viewpoint and what it implied in the reading of the story

The why was clear to me

The abbreviations D and R were and still are used to indicate party.

R Senator Bob Dole as an example or
D Senator Ted Kennedy

But today's political world has created a little different twist on abbreviations

So vote for one, or maybe there will only be one left

While choices are still available, vote
D for Dem or R for Rus
