"Has the chief arrived?"
In an open office where a large group of people in casual clothing, a man with dark brown curly hair lifted the sleek and lightweight golden VR headset to reveal dark brown eyes. Even though the man wore jeans and a short sleeve white button up shirt, he alludes an attractive quality which caused everyone around him to defer to him with admiration.
"The chief arrived about half an hour ago. She said she'll be in her office."
Hearing the response, the man set the headset on nearby desk at the same time a young woman handed him a black file. With the file in hand, he smiled at the group before heading off toward the elevator lobby. Taking the elevator up to 20th level, he soon entered the executive's floor. Unlike the bustling open office floors below, the executive's floor is quiet and peaceful. The secretaries at the front desk gave him a respectful bow as he made his way down the private corridor. Once he reached to a corner office with a full height wood door, he gave a knock before entering.
Upon entrance, he sees a figure standing by curtain wall behind a simple and sleek white desk. The desk held a white laptop and a gold plaque that read Chief Badass. If anyone saw the plaque for the first time, they'll think it's a joke. But no one in CINO Technology dare to think of the title as a joke. Because they all knew the title was very fitting to the holder – the Chief Operating Officer of CINO Technology, Minh Cao.
Minh Cao is woman in her late-twenties standing five feet five with long black hair that reaches just above her elbows. Currently, the woman was dressed a black t-shirt tucked in skinny gray jeans. After hearing the door to her office opened, she ran a hand through her long bangs to reveal light brown eyes, small nose, and pale pink lips that is currently sucking on a lollipop. Seeing the man and his amused smiles, the woman rolled her eyes. Taking the lollipop out of her mouth, she leaned against the horizontal mullion sill and folded her arms across her chest to face the man.
"Is there something you need President?" Minh went straight to point and asked.
"What? I can't stop by my chief's office?" The man teased.
"Peter" Minh's tone held a bit of annoyance.
She didn't like it when anyone make claims over her, even if it's a joke.
"Jeez, what's with you lately, Minh?" With a light chuckle, he held his hand up in surrender.
Putting the lollipop back in her mouth, Minh sat down in her white leather chair. The man before her, Peter Roe, was technically her boss. As the President of the company, he is the one who sign her paychecks. But still, Minh Cao was an individual who does not defer to anyone. In reality, she was the sort of person who could run a company, but because of her lazy nature, it would be difficult for her handle that sort of responsibility long term. Peter had scouted Minh four years ago when she was finance director at an oil and energy company. At the time, Minh was in the running for Vice President of that company but took CINO Technology's offer because of Peter Roe. In terms of career, Minh care more about money than position – but at the same time, she doesn't like being undermine just because the position she had. Peter Roe made it clear that her salary would be equal to any vice president and as long as she help him oversee the company day to day operational functions, she will not have to report to anyone but him. Minh had accepted his offer and had worked for the man since then.
"You've been intense these days. Your title going to change to Chief Grumpy if this keeps up."
Minh didn't refute Peter's words because it was true. It's been six months since she woke up from the series of long dreams. And for six months, she's been searching endlessly for the possibility that those dreams were more than just figments of her imagination. After all, the $1,120,000 still sit in her bank account – untouched as a constant reminder that those lifetimes were more than just dreams.
