Careful now. Don't want to be spilling acid all over the lab. It would be a pain to clean up, but furthermore, it would most probably eat through the table. Kal tipped the vial forward a touch. A single glistening drop fell into the beaker waiting below. He stepped back to observe the effects. It would be a shame to waste the moment, especially when he was on the verge of a scientific breakthrough. BANG! The door to his lab burst open with a crash. The table wobbled a bit, and the beaker began to teeter. Kal dove for it. He caught it just in time. Any sooner, and it would have completely ruined not only the floor, but also his hard work.

"My most sincere apologies sir. But this was in the mail." His intern said as he walked around the table.

Kal shot his intern a furious look. He gently set the beaker back on the table, and walked over. He snatched the envelope out of the outstretched hand, and tore it open. The intern nodded, and went back out the door. He began to read.

Salutations Professor Kal Narongsha, PhD,

This is why we are pleased to announce your acceptance to the International Science Federation. We are a highly motivated group of intellectuals, and are focused on broadening our perspective of the universe, and all of its inner workings. Our facility is located on a remote island off the coast of the Pacific. If you are interested in our offer, please do not hesitate to contact us via a trip to our headquarters. Your ticket is enclosed. Please refrain from discussing this matter with your fellow colleagues, as we take this quite seriously.

We look forward to have you amongst our number.

Sincerely,

The International Science Federation

Kal blinked a few times, and reread the letter. A small smile spread across his face. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He could meet people with similar interests, and work with the best of the best. It was perfect. He carefully slipped the letter into the pocket of his lab coat, and got back to his experiment. The beaker was bubbling over, and required immediate attention. But just this once, he didn't mind. He didn't mind at all.
