so I did a little research and here are a few that I liked

Family: Mom and Dad, they are very kind, encouraging, and trusting which makes it hard to talk to them about his depression because he's afraid to upset them. He usually ends up talking to his Friend James.

race: human, Irish American (moved to America when he was seven)

Backstory: Dean is the second most popular kid in school after his best friend James became the most popular. Neither Dean nor James really enjoy all the attention they get but at least it keeps them for being "dirty immigrants". Dean was suicidal and anorexic for a long time when he woke up in the back of a van with a bunch of kids his age and younger who told him he had killed himself and he was now in one of many afterlives. This afterlife was for non-religious teenagers who died of suicide and is basically an endless summer camp.
that's actually really interesting
Appearence: 5'11, dark brown hair, blue/grayish eyes, really really pale, strong but lean and he for some mysterious reason keeps losing weight (anorexic).

Clothes: what ever is popular at the time and helps him fit in.

Personality: he's the "I didn't sign up for this but I'm already here so why the hell not" protagonist.

Dean is sarcastic and honestly done with all of this, but at the same time he really cares for his friends and if you get him in the right mood he's a lot of fun to be around (he was popular for a reason).

Since he knows what it's like to be depressed he's always there for anyone to talk to. He's pretty analogical and tends to think things through logically but still end up acting with his slightly over emotional heart, which usually ends with him overthinking.

Jaime: his cabin mate/friendly rival, other cabins: cabin versus cabin games, camp consolers: going rogue from the grim reapers control; trying to ruin everyone's afterlife as punishment for them committing suicide and generally making things as hard as possible; causing people to go missing

He's depressed because of being made fun of for his accent, the fact that he's an immigrant, his sexuality, and he's often told that if he weren't Jame's little sidekick that no one would actually like him, or care if he died

Strengths: He's good at putting on a fake smile, funny, social, good at sports, smart, is good at baking and cooking because "neither sexism or feminism is going to help you when you're hungry"

Weaknesses: Doesn't try to get good grades and lets himself fail, bad at self care, has a hard time loving himself, thinks he's a good singer (he's not), has a hard time trusting people, judges (popular) people easily/assumes that all people who are rich and popular are brats: he hates himself for it and he's trying hard not to judge them especially since it's kind of hypocritical since he's pretty well of and popular
